With so many delays that the film has been suffering for the last six years, new insider reports suggest that Blade has now been cancelled by Marvel Studios. In a report by Jeff Sneider on the Hot Mic Podcast, he claimed that the rumor of the film’s cancellation also stretches to Mahershala Ali’s character being brought to the Midnight Sons film.
While these reports are still unconfirmed, the constant delaying of the film’s production since its announcement does give this claim some credibility, and even the stars themselves don’t have much confidence in it either. And with Marvel’s history with the Midnight Sons, it’s very likely that Blade will be seen in the MCU in that project.
Mahershala Ali Was Frustrated With Marvel’s Handling of Blade

It’s been almost six and a half years since the day Mahershala Ali was announced to be part of the development of Blade in the MCU. And over the years, he had constantly assured fans that the film was still happening, through promising updates about it.
But since last year, he too seems to have finally started getting extremely frustrated with the project not really going anywhere. Thus, in an episode of Vogue’s Off the Cuff, when the star was asked for an update on how many MCU films he and Scarlett Johansson have been in, he said jokingly:
Leave me out of it.
This was the salt on the wound question that was asked about him, and he didn’t comment much about any updates on the development either, which led many to believe he was losing confidence in the solo Blade film, too.

Emerging as a distinguished group in 1992, the Midnight Sons is a congregation of superheroes in Marvel’s roster from its Supernatural and Occult side. It consists of characters like Blade, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and Morbius, among other core and recurring characters.
These characters usually take on the mystical side of Marvel, with their tales revolving around horror, occult, and cosmic darkness, with teams being made due to convenience rather than solidarity. This gives it a more grave and dark edge that’s hard to find in regular Marvel publications.
With major antagonists like Satan, Dormammu, and Mephisto, recently seen in Ironheart, this team of superheroes is a prime example of an MCU-ready group that needs to be introduced in the franchise.
