Switch 2 gamers are going to be in Final Fantasy heaven this year it seems. While Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was only released on the console weeks ago, at the latest Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase Square Enix has announced that the second part in the planned trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, will launch on Switch 2 this June. 3rd June, in fact.

The arrival of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2 is likely faster than most expected, but it’s welcome nonetheless. It’s a brilliant sequel, too, expanding on the action of the first game by letting players loose in an open world. And on top of that you have the continuation of the brilliant story and yet another stunning soundtrack. In our review of the PS5 release we stated, “We absolutely loved Final Fantasy VII Remake, but it’s safe to say that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth surpasses it in every possible way. It’s a masterpiece.”

Like Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will land on Switch 2 with streamlined progression features, giving players more control over how they play. These will presumably be added into the game on other formats, too. And while there’s no announcement just yet, it’s perhaps safe to assume that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will also launch on Xbox Series X/S at the same time as Switch 2. We’ll update this article if it’s confirmed.
