In a rare incident in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a man discovered bundles of cash floating in the ocean and decided to risk pulling them ashore, as seen in a viral Reddit video. The clip showed the man standing by the shoreline, dragging a black package containing stacks of money out of the water. Another man soon joined him to help pull the bundle completely onto the beach. Later in the same video, piles of bundled cash were seen lying on the ground beside a chair, while a police officer stood nearby.

According to the caption shared with the post, the man allegedly discovered millions of dollars in cash floating near the beach, brought it ashore, and immediately contacted law enforcement. Another TikTok video captured the scene from a different angle, showing beachgoers casually enjoying themselves nearby while the money remained positioned beside the chair. An ocean rescue vehicle could also be seen parked close to the scene.

The Internet Debates What Should Have Been Done

As the videos spread online, social media users quickly began debating what they would have done if they had found themselves in the same situation.

“That’s a lot of cash. I would take my chances. Hide a couple of bundles if I need a lawyer,” one commenter admitted bluntly. At the same time, another pointed out that the discovery occurred in broad daylight, with plenty of witnesses around, making it nearly impossible to walk away with the money. Another user jokingly mapped out an elaborate escape plan, writing, “Lay on the cash like it’s a floatie and gently float your ass up and down the shoreline until the sun sets. Toss it over your shoulder in the darkness and head home. Whoever had that money has no idea where it wound up. The only people you’re hiding from are bystanders with phones.”

Some people speculated that the man may initially have believed the package contained drugs because of how tightly the cash was wrapped. Others simply joked about how they personally would have kept the money instead of alerting authorities.
