How to Get Food in Forever Skies
There are three ways to get food in Forever Skies:
- Catching Insects or Dust Lettuce with an Insect Catcher and an Insect Lure
- Looting food from points of interest
- Growing food with farming
Generally speaking, eating raw food is a bad idea that can give you a Virus (which brings several debuffs with it). You should always cook your food; the only exception is the Old Food Ration which never spoils and doesn’t need to be cooked. (although it can be).
It should be noted that food can and will spoil after you pick it up. You can prevent food from spoiling by placing it inside a Freezer, although you’ll have to discover the crafting recipe for this device before you can use it.
How Forever Skies Cooking Works
The Forever Skies cooking system is pretty simple compared to cooking systems in other games. All you need to do is craft an Electric Cooker, place it on your Airship, and fill it with 1–20 Clean Water. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is insert an uncooked food item into the Electric Cooker and start the cooking process.
Cooking food takes around 30 seconds or so. When it’s done, you’ll be able to pick up the cooked food and eat it immediately or store it away for later. Much like uncooked food, cooked food can spoil after a couple of in-game days.
Again, you should never eat uncooked food. Aside from risking catching a Virus, uncooked food gives poorer stat bonuses compared to cooked food. Additionally, uncooked food can incur stat penalties such as losing Water or Health.
