FOX Sports is offering one football fan what might be the ultimate FIFA World Cup job: getting paid to watch every single match of the 2026 tournament.
The company announced that it is teaming up with FOX One and Indeed to hire a “FOX One Chief World Cup Watcher Hired Through Indeed,” a temporary role built around the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
The selected applicant will be paid a $50,000 salary to watch all 104 matches across the 39-day tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19. It won’t be enough to actually afford tickets to the World Cup final, but it’s still a nice chunk of change.
According to FOX, the hired fan will watch the games live in 4K on FOX One from a custom-built viewing space in Times Square, New York City.

The job is not just about sitting back and watching the beautiful game unfold. FOX says the chosen fan will also create and share social content throughout the tournament, showing their reactions as they follow every minute of World Cup action.

“This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that calls for an equally historic hire,” said Robert Gottlieb, President of Marketing at FOX Sports. “One engaged applicant will get the job of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every nation and every exhilarating moment that defines the beautiful game.”
FOX says applicants should update their Indeed profiles by May 17 to be considered. They are also encouraged to post a short video on social media explaining why they deserve the role, using the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher.
The winner will begin the job on June 6, when FOX reveals the hire during its broadcast of the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees. The role will run through July 26, one week after the World Cup Final.
The 2026 World Cup will be the largest edition of the tournament yet, with 48 teams, 104 matches and games hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
