- How to Repair Items
Managing supplies and arms is the most important aspect of surviving in 7 Days to Die's zombie-infested post-apocalyptic earth. Throughout the game, players can create valuable items and weapons that will allow them to advance more quickly and easily.
However, because the game's tutorial only covers the basic concepts required to get started, many new players might get confused about how to repair the objects they have crafted or acquired as loot from the open world.
How to Repair Items
7 Days to Die contains a variety of craftable items, ranging from tools for gathering materials to weapons and armor for defense. However, each item in the game has a specific durability. With repeated use of these tools, weapons, or armor, their durability will begin to deteriorate, and when they reach the end of their lifespan, they will no longer work.
However, just because an object has been damaged or has no durability remaining does not make it useless. All of these items are repairable and reusable. Repairing an item requires fewer resources than crafting, allowing players to spare important resources for other activities.
After being repaired, the item's maximum durability becomes full, and the item becomes as good as new. Players will not have to discard any item and go through the process of collecting resources and crafting it all over again.
Each item requires certain materials to repair; for example, the Stone Axe can only be mended using Small Stones. The materials needed to repair the item may be discovered on its information tab (book icon).
However, things gathered via looting or for which the recipes have not yet been unlocked cannot be repaired until the blueprints are unlocked. This issue can occur with weaponry in the early stages of the game.
Once you have gathered the necessary resources, follow these steps to repair any item:
- Open the inventory and click on the item that you want to repair.
- With enough resources collected to repair the items present in your inventory, you will find the ‘Repair’ button just below the Modify button.
- Click on the repair button, and the item will be repaired. A few items might take longer to be repaired than others.
However, unlike most tools or weapons, items like doors, walls, and building blocks require a different repair method. These blocks may be repaired by holding tools like the Axe or Hammer and pressing the Right Mouse Button while pointing the crosshair at the damaged item or block. This will begin the repair process for the damaged items; however, you must ensure that you have enough resources in your inventory to restore them.
