Another Crab’s Treasure: Why You Should Instantly Die

There are some good reasons to choose the «Instantly Die» option in Another Crab’s Treasure – and ways to make it less punishing.

The humor in Another Crab's Treasure goes way beyond funny dialogue lines and referential items. One particularly hilarious, but useful, feature is the ability to make Kril Instantly Die. Another Crab's Treasure players might see this as just a wacky way to commit die, but it's actually quite a useful feature – if you know how to use it correctly.

When you die in Another Crab's Treasure Kril will respawn at the last place he rested at, unless you are fighting a boss. Knowing this, and using certain accessibility features, Another Crab's Treasure players can turn the Instantly Die mechanic into a useful, punishment-free way to teleport to the last Moon Shell they visited.

Why You Should Instantly Die In Another Crab's Treasure

There are a few situations where you might want to use the "Instantly Die" option in Another Crab's Treasure. When triggered, Kril will immediately die and drop all of his Microplastics. Kril will then respawn at the last Moon Shell he rested at, or the nearest Moon Jelly respawn location if one is available.

In Dark Souls , the Darksign item accomplishes the same thing, and forces players to drop all of their current souls and respawn at the last Bonfire they rested at.

It might seem pointless, as you'll have to run and grapple back to your death location to recover Microplastics and whatever shell you had equipped. But, if you are stuck or trapped in a glitched location, it might be your only hope of escaping a soft lock.

If you are fighting a boss that has absolutely pummeled you, hasn't taken any hits, and you've been forced to use all your healing items, it's not a bad idea to save some time and Instantly Die instead of playing out the rest of the boss.

Additionally, if you turn on the option to prevent Microplastic loss on death, the option to Instantly Die essentially functions as a quick reset button. Use it to save time when you know a boss fight isn't going your way, or to retrace your steps when exploring a confusing area for the first time.

How To Instantly Die (Without Losing Microplastics)

To Instantly Die, Another Crab's Treasure players should open up the options menu, then scroll down to "Settings". Open up the settings menu, then scroll down to find the "Instantly Die" button right below the "Guides" button.

Then, all you have to do is select it. There is no confirmation screen that pops up. Once it's been pressed Kril will instantly die, as the name suggests. But under normal circumstances, this means forfeiting all of your Microplastics.

If you go into the settings menu again, then scroll down to the "Assist Mode" options, you will find an accessibility option that prevents all Microplastic loss on death. This doesn't disable achievements and will make the Instantly Die option less punishing. Now, if you need to escape a glitched spot or need to reset an area, all you lose is your current Shell, but it's not like the ocean is lacking other options.
