Assassin’s Creed Fans Point Out Inconsistency With Altair

Highlights

  • Altair's robe physics changed across games due to limitations in realistic cloth physics in later entries of the Assassin's Creed franchise.
  • Altair and Ezio are two of the most iconic characters in the series, with Altair being the protagonist of the first game.
  • Altair's iconic robes, although unlockable in most games, have different physics and lengths in each entry of the franchise.

An Assassin’s Creed fan has recently pointed out that Altair’s robe’s physics look very different across several games in the franchise, despite always mimicking the same overall design. Assassin’s Creed has released 13 mainline entries since 2007, and Altair was the protagonist of the first game in the series, which made him a very iconic character.

Together with Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin’s Creed 2, Altair Ibn-La’Ahad is perhaps one of the most famous Assassin’s Creed characters. Altair was a Syrian Assassin during the Middle Ages, appearing as a playable character in both the first game and during brief flashback segments in Assassin’s Creed 2 and Revelations. However, the iconic robes of the famous Assassin are unlockable in most Assassin’s Creed games.

Now, a gamer called CrazyMathematician85 pointed out that Altair’s white robe has pretty different physics in distinct games where it appears. Between the first game and AC Revelations, Altair’s robes feel the same, as they’re mostly loose and extend longer than in the following entries. The major shift happens in Assassin’s Creed 3. While the character does not appear in this game, Altair’s clothes can be unlocked in Assassin’s Creed 3 by completing all optional objectives during main missions with 100% sync. From AC3 to Rogue, Altair’s robe feels tight and somewhat shorter than in previous games, as it seems to be r to the Assassin’s legs, as if it were some kind of pants. Finally, from Assassin’s Creed Unity onwards, it becomes looser again, but not as much as in the first game.

Assassin's Creed Player Noticed Altair's Robe Looks Different In Some AC Games

In the comments of CrazyMathematician85’s post, gamers discussed why Altair’s robes feel so different in distinct entries. One of the most likely reasons is due to limitations in realistic cloth physics in later games. In the first few games, Altair’s clothes are the default, and likely to be used during most of the experience. Other Assassin's Creed games have several outfits, however, so the robes probably do not move so much because they do not have specific cloth physics, as they are no longer a costume that most players will even see.

The next entry in the AC franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15. At the moment, it’s not yet known whether the game will have an unlockable Altair costume for players, but the option has been present in so many mainline games of the franchise that it’s possible that either Naoe or Yasuke could have it as a bonus outfit.
