Assassin’s Creed Red’s Real Title Leaks Online

A leaker claims to reveal Assassin’s Creed Red’s real title, and if legit, it has exciting implications for the game itself.

Assassin's Creed Red's Real Title Leaks Online

As many fans know, Assassin's Creed Red has been the codename for the franchise's open-world RPG set in Feudal Japan. Sometimes these code names carry implications about a title, such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla's codename being Kingdoms, representing the game's structure. Unfortunately, all that can really be derived from Assassin's Creed Red is its setting in Japan. However, now a leaker has claimed that the real title of Assassin's Creed Red is Assassin's Creed Shadows, which does carry some interesting implications for the title.

Until Ubisoft confirms the real title of Assassin's Creed Red, fans should take this information with a grain of salt. The rumor can be traced back to a Twitter account called UBI_FraxV2, which claimed that it was called Assassin's Creed Shadows and had 2 DLC releases planned. Shortly after, the account was banned on Twitter and hasn't been reinstated yet. The name would then creep to other social media, being used sparingly on the internet. It hasn't gotten a lot of traction, but the banning is not enough to suggest this leak is legit one way or another.

On the chance the leak is legit, it potentially carries a lot of weight as a subtitle. Assassin's Creed Origins is so-called because it explores the creation of the Hidden Ones and the predecessors of the Templar Order, the Order of the Ancients. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is so-called because it is an epic Greek journey, while Assassin's Creed Valhalla focuses on the less-Assassin and more-Warrior ally of Eivor and her battle methods. AC Mirage, finally, isn't just in relation to the desert setting, but the true identity and development of Basim. The very obvious implication of Assassin's Creed Shadows is the importance of stealth.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Implies Heavy Stealth Focus

According to other Assassin's Creed Red/Shadows rumors and leaks, stealth is getting a bigger emphasis and overhaul than the past open-world RPGs in the franchise. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the ability to turn enemy commanders into spies, the ability to go prone, and the ability to extinguish torches and use shadows as hiding spots.

More than that, it could also carry some form of implication for the storyline. It could imply that the game will see both the Templars and Assassins operating out of the shadows during the Warring Sengoku period of Japan, all of which works with established Assassin's Creed Japan lore too.

This possibly being the title is no doubt exciting, but for now, fans will just have to wait and see. Ubisoft Forward takes place on June 10, and while Star Wars Outlaws will likely get some attention ahead of its August 30 release date, so too will hopefully Assassin's Creed Red/Shadows.
