Several Baldur's Gate 3 actors have confirmed that they would be open to returning in future iterations of the series, even without the involvement of Larian Studios. The developer recently confirmed it would not be developing a sequel to Baldur's Gate 3, but despite this, some of the cast are willing to return for the right script.

Baldur's Gate 3 was one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2023, winning an enormous number of awards in the wake of its release last year. The actors in the game received tons of praise for their fantastic performances, bringing the companions of Baldur's Gate 3 to life in extraordinary fashion. As a cast, they've really engaged with the title. A while back, the main Baldur's Gate 3 cast even played Dungeons and Dragons together, showcasing how much fun they've had with these characters.

Speaking to The Gamer on the red carpet of the BAFTA Games Awards, actors Samantha Béart, Tracy Wiles, and Neil Newbon all confirmed that they'd be willing to reprise their roles from Baldur's Gate 3. Karlach actor Béart said, "The writing was so strong on this. So, let's see what you've got. Let's see what you've got, Wizards," referring to Wizards of the Coast, which is now back in the driving seat of the Baldur's Gate franchise. Tracy Wiles, who plays Baldur's Gate 3's Jaheira, revealed that she "can't imagine" returning without Ruairí Moore, who wrote the character in the game, although she remains "open" to coming back.

Baldur's Gate 3 Actors on Returning to Future Titles

They were joined by Astarion actor, Neil Newbon, who won several awards for his role in Baldur's Gate 3. Newbon was enthusiastic about the possibility, claiming that "If anyone ever made me an offer to do so I'd jump on it," confirming that he's "not done" with the character. While Astarion has different endings in Baldur's Gate 3 itself, there's no doubt that the character still has plenty of potential to explore. Hopefully, Wizards of the Coast is able to produce a concept that can convince these actors to return, as there's still a lot of life in these characters yet.

Larian's confirmation that it won't be involved with a Baldur's Gate 3 sequel was surprising news when it broke. The runaway success of the game meant that most assumed a Larian-developed sequel was merely a formality, but instead, the studio has decided to take its own path. The developer remains tight-lipped on what its next project will be, and it'll likely be some time before any concrete news is revealed. As for Baldur's Gate, its future is now in the hands of Wizards of the Coast. It remains to be seen if it can live up to the lofty standards established by Larian Studios.
