BG3 has many great finesse weapons. Here are the best.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game with a diverse array of weapons for the player to pick from.
With many types of weapons, players who prefer characters with high dexterity and lower strength should definitely look into Finesse weapons to make the most out of their characters.
What Are Finesse Weapons
Finesse weapons have a special attribute in Baldur’s Gate 3. These weapons do not force the player to rely on their strength to land damage. Instead, this kind of weapon will choose between strength and dexterity, depending on which is higher for said character.
This can be incredibly useful for characters with high dexterity but lower strength such as a Rogue or Ranger.
Finesse attribute will be found with these types of weapons:
• Rapiers
• Scimitars
• Shortswords
• Daggers
Some other weapon types can work similarly, but they are exceptions.
Only these kinds of weapons can be used to perform a Sneak Attack (melee) action, which the Rogue class provides. Consequently, it’s essential for the player to know which Finesse weapons are the best of the best.
The Best Finesse Weapons
Sussur Dagger
The Sussur Dagger is a rare dagger. When it comes to its damage output, this dagger can do piercing damage 1d4 + 1 damage in addition to the strength or dexterity modifier of the character in question.
What makes this dagger stand out among the rest, however, is its Silenced Ability. Indeed, any enemy hit by this dagger will be silenced, which means they will not be able to cast many of the game’s spells. This gives the player a huge advantage, especially against enemies that heavily rely on spells.
That aside, this weapon also grants Piercing Strike, which can inflict an enemy with a gaping wound.
Infernal Rapier
The Infernal Rapier is a very rare rapier. The player can acquire this weapon through Wyll’s companion quest, making this rapier an ideal weapon for the Warlock. With this weapon in hand, players can dish out some heavy damage, being able to do 1d8 + 3 damage + the spell-casting modifier.
One thing to keep in mind about this rapier is that, despite being classified as a finesse weapon, it only makes use of the spellcasting ability of the player, instead of choosing between strength or dexterity.
This weapon grants some interesting abilities, such as the possibility of casting Planar Ally: Cambion.
Belm
Belm is a very rare Scimitar. This weapon will dish out in addition to the strength or dexterity modifier 1d6 + 2 slashing damage. This weapon can also be easily dual-wielded without any kind of training.
With this weapon in hand, the player can make use of Perfectly Balanced Strike, which is unique for this weapon Belm only.
Besides that, if the player uses this weapon in their main hand, they will acquire Flourish, Lacerate, and Whirlwind Attack, the latter being able to attack all nearby enemies in one go.
Duelist’s Prerogative
Duelist’s Prerogative is legendary Rapier. It enables the player to deal piercing damage 1d8 + 3 in addition to their strength or dexterity modifier. It can also deal extra necrotic 1d4 damage.
When wielding this weapon, the player receives Elegant Duelist, which grants an extra reaction per turn as well as makes critical hits more likely if the off hand is empty. It also grants Withering Cut and Challenge to Duel.
If the weapon is equipped in the main hand and the player is proficient, they also get Flourish, Piercing Strike, Weakening Strike, as well as Dueler’s enthusiasm.
