Baldur’s Gate 3: Rescue The Tieflings Guide

The player has to save the Tieflings again in Act 2 of BG3. Here’s how you can do it easily.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game where actions can have consequences. As such, by choosing to save the Tieflings in Act 1, the player opens the door for some quests that can only be available if they follow those paths.

In Act 2, the Tieflings are, again, in a dire situation where the help of the player is needed to save them.

Saving the Tieflings in Act 1

To be able to unlock the quest “Rescue The Tieflings” the player must have, of course, saved the Tieflings during the events in the Grove in Act 1.

During Act 1, the Tieflings were in danger, at risk from the Druids and the Goblins. The player had the option to save them, side with Minthara and wipe them out, or let the Druids have their way with them. If the player chooses to save the Tieflings, they will move on to the area of Act 2 and make this quest possible.

How To Get The ‘Rescue The Tieflings’ Quest

To get the quest, the player should head into Act 2 and in the Last Light Inn. There, the player will meet old and new faces. The player will be able to talk to some of the Tieflings they saved back in Act 1. Specifically, the player should talk to Alfira, who should be inside the Inn.

She will be happy to see the player safe, as something seems to have happened to the other Tieflings. As it seems, some of the Tieflings were taken to Moonrise.

Alfira asks the player to go and save them from there, and with that, the quest to rescue the captured Tieflings begins.

However, the player will have to do some stuff in between this and the quest to be able to go there, such as acquiring a Pixie, as Moonrise Tower is deep in the Shadow Cursed Land.

The Player should rescue the Tieflings before taking on the Quest “Find Ketheric Thorm’s Relic” as the Tieflings will die and never be able to be rescued after that.

Finding Moonrise Tower

Baldur’s Gate 3: Rescue The Tieflings Guide

As previously stated, the Tieflings are stuck in a specific place, Moonrise Towers. However, it can be quite a dangerous place to adventure to.

Moonrise Towers are located to the very south of the map. Specifically southwest of the Last Light Inn. Finding it should be the easy part of this quest.

Once the player reaches Moonrise Tower, there should be a waypoint nearby. Upon entering, the player will be met with two individuals, Zealot Malik and Adept Merim. While the player may be tempted to fight them for their parasite specimens, it will cause the entire Moonrise Tower to turn hostile, so it should be avoided.

Inside Moonrise Tower

Once the player enters the Moonrise Tower, they’ll have to find the prisons to rescue the Tieflings.

But first, the player might have to encounter and talk to Ketheric Thorm and Disciple Z’rell. Of course, the player should try to stay on their good side for now. This could include killing a bunch of Goblins who disobeyed Ketheric Thorm. Once the player is done with both Ketheric Thorm and Disciple Z’rell, they can focus again on their mission to save the Tieflings.

The player can find their next destination by walking through the door on the right of the room, where they talked with Ketheric Thorm and Disciple Z’rell. From there, there are trails of blood on the ground, leading to the stairs that get to the Moonrise Prisons, and the player should head there.

However, there are also other paths to reach the prisons. One such option is to head to the docks behind Moonrise. To the right of the map, there, the player will find an Oak door that will lead them inside the prisons.

Inside the Moonrise Prison

Once the player makes it inside the Moonrise prison, they’re going to have to get closer to the prison cells to communicate with the prisoners. However, the player should beware of the prison guards. The player has the option to deceive or persuade the prison guard to let them talk to the prisoners, which shouldn’t be hard to achieve. With that, the player will be free to speak to the prisoners.

The first prisoner the player will probably talk to is Lia. She will tell the player to go talk to the gnomes as they’re scheming something. A few cells ahead, the player will find Wulbern Bongle, the gnome Lia was referring to.

The player should let him know that they’re here to help. If the player previously helped Barcus, they can inform Wulbern. Otherwise, the player will have to persuade Wulbern to trust them.

He’ll ask the player to help him by providing him with tools to escape. With that, the escape mission will soon start.

Getting Wulbern the Tool He Needs

As previously said, Wulbern will ask the player for a tool to aid in their escape, something that can break rocks. Something like a hammer, mace, or a Pickaxe will work just fine. The player most likely has one lying around in the inventory so they don’t even need to go looking for one.

Note: Do not give Wulbern a valuable weapon that you might want back as he will not give back the weapon after using it.

With that, the player can easily slide the weapon to Wulbern. However, if the player is worried about the guard seeing them in action, they can go higher and throw the weapon down into the cell.

If the player is caught doing something they shouldn’t do, they could be thrown into a prison cell.

When Wulbern has the weapon, the player can tell him that it’s time to start, or can ask for a bit of extra time to get other things done. Once the player is ready, they should speak to Wulbern and finish this quest.

The Prison Escape

Baldur’s Gate 3: Rescue The Tieflings Guide

Once the prison escape begins, the player must cover up for Wulbern and the escaping Tieflings. The player will have to take on a multitude of enemies.

The player should take down the Scrying Eyes first, to avoid enemy reinforcements. Besides the eyes, however, they’ll be faced with strong enemies, such as Adept Keris, Zealot Nadi, and the prison’s warden, the latter being the most problematic.

Meanwhile, Wulbern and the rest will make their way to a boat. It’s important to ensure their survival.

Once the Tieflings and others reach the boat, they’ll start attacking the brittle chains to let the boat go free, which would take some time as most are unarmed. Either way, the player should be able to handle the enemies and then go on to join the others near the boat to help them out.
