The player has many options when it comes to true soul Nere in BG3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that will expose players to many challenges, some of which can be resolved in various manners, affecting the player’s game in different ways, depending on what paths the player takes.
The player will eventually stumble on a man stuck under a pile of rubble who needs help. Depending on what the player does, different scenarios can occur.
Who is Nere and Where To Find Him
Nere is a Drow who, just like the player, is a true soul. He also has a parasite stuck in his head. However, like most true souls, he’s in the service of the Absolute.
To find Nere, the player must first access the Underdark. The Underdark can be accessed from the Goblin camp, in the room priestess Gut takes the player to.
From there onward, the player must first locate the Decrepit Village. It will be next to the beach and an ancient Sigil circle. There, the player will meet Gekh Coal, a Duergar.
He possesses a boat that can take the player to Grymforge, where they will find Nere. To get on that boat, the player has two options – get the Sergeant’s stolen boots from Thulla or kill Gekh Coal and his men. Taking the Sergeant’s boots will make it easier to go to Grymforge, but both options are decent.
Once sailing, the player will soon be at Grymforge, where Nere is in very deep trouble.
Nere’s Situation
Once the player goes deeper into the Grymforge, they’ll meet Sergeant Thrinn. She’ll explain to the player that Nere is stuck under the rubble and in dire need of help.
The player is in a race against time to save Nere, as if they long rest too often, Nere will die.
Letting Nere Die Under the Rubble
Once that is done, the player must find a deep gnome named Philomeen. To find her, the player should backtrack to the area with the boats and look for two Duergar who are throwing corpses in the water. The player should make them leave. After that, the player needs to access the locked door and find a button. Going inside, the player will face some challenges but eventually, they’ll reach an intricate door. They should go from behind that area where they’ll finally find Philomeen.
The player should get her to hand over at least one vial of runepowder as it’s all that’s needed to free Nere. With that in hand, the player needs to make their way back to Nere, where they’ll speak to Sergeant Thrinn and tell her they have explosives. Once the explosive is placed, all that’s left is to light it up. With the rubble blown, Nere is finally free to go.
