Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Save Or Kill Mizora?

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game with an array of interesting characters. When it comes to the array of incredible characters the game has provided, one that has had many fans fascinated is Wyll’s patron, Mizora. She is an integral part of Wyll’s story, and will eventually be in a lot of trouble during BG3’s Act 2, as she will end up imprisoned in a pod.

The player will have her life in their hands, and whether they end her life or not will be their choice. However, each decision has its own, heavy consequences the player should be aware of.

Who Is Mizora?

Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Save Or Kill Mizora?

Mizora is a character the players will meet way before Act 2 even starts. They will meet her in Act 1, if they have Wyll recruited as a member of their team, that is. She will show up at the player’s camp one night after the player and Wyll conclude his quest by killing or sparing Karlach. She will appear whether the player decides to kill Karlach or not, however, each has its own consequences.

Sparring Karlach will end with Wyll being turned into a devil (although there is a loophole to avoid that), and killing Karlach will allow Wyll to remain a human and get an interesting item from his Patron Mizora. Whichever the player chooses, Wyll and Mizora’s story will continue, and saving her or not will have rippling effects on the player’s game.

Where to Find Mizora in Act 2

Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Save Or Kill Mizora?

After what happened in Act 1, the player is probably into Act 2 by now. In this Act, the player’s main mission is to head into the Moonrise Towers to defeat the biggest boss of this Act, Ketheric Thorm.

Upon getting injured by the player, Ketheric will escape deep into the Mind Flayer Colony, and the player must catch up to him down there.

However, before that, when the player is walking on the bridge leading to Moonrise, Mizora will appear to the player as a projection. She will ask Wyll and the player to free an important asset to Zariel who is currently imprisoned. This quest is a direct order to Wyll and if he is to fail this, he will be sent to Avernus — which pretty much means the player will lose him. She does not tell Wyll that the person who needs saving is her, but it will become apparent later that it is.

Now, the player will find Mizora after following Ketheric Thorm into the Mind Flayer Colony. Inside, the player needs to head to the Tadpoling center, around X: 675 and Y: 40. If the player has the quest on the map, there should be a glowing area around where they will find Wyll’s patron.

Upon reaching that area, the player has to look around for an occupied pod in a room on its own. The player should be careful as there’s another room full of pods with individuals inside, however, that is irrelevant to Mizora’s quest. Once the player reaches that pod, they’ve found Mizora, the one important asset of Zariel.

Killing or Saving Mizora

Once the player approaches the pod to talk to the person inside, they’ll see Mizora. She is impatient for the player to get her out of there. Of course, in exchange for being saved, Wyll will be free of his contract with her.

The player can save or kill her by pressing on one of the devices on the control pad. The player has no idea what is written on either, as they have Illithid symbols.

The player has a few options with what to do:

• the left device

• The right device

• Smashing through the pod

• Or leaving her there

Leaving her there and going to fight Ketheric Thorm is akin to letting her die, and will cause Wyll to go to Avernus.

How To Save Her

The second option is to, of course, activate the correct device. To do that, the player will have to pass an Arcana check to decipher each symbol. What makes it easy is that the player only needs to pass one Arcana check, as they’ll deduce what the other device does, based on the first one. However, if the player fails both Arcana checks, this will make it hard.

To make it easy, the device on the right will be the “unleash” device, this will free Mizora if used. The device on the left is the “Annihilate” device. If this one is used, Mizora will be lost as the pod will kill her. If the player wishes to save her, definitely pick the right device.

How To Kill Her

If the player, on the other hand, does not care about Wyll and his consequences, then they might want to kill Mizora here and now.

To achieve that, the easiest way is to just ignore her and go fight Ketheric Thorm without interacting with her. This will end her, as well as Wyll.

However, if the player wants to see her in her last moments, then they should go to her and, after talking to her, pick the annihilate device. This will disintegrate her and she will die.

This will deal with Wyll’s patron, and send Wyll to Avernus. If the player decides to do this they should not have Wyll in their roster as it could be problematic when it comes to completing their fight against Thorm.

Consequences of Killing Or Saving Her

Of course, each decision has its consequences. If the player decides to kill her, then, as stated before, they will lose one of their companions, Wyll.

On the other hand, if Mizora is saved, then she will eventually have to free Wyll out of his contract with her. That said, this could indeed take some time.

Besides that, freeing Mizora can allow the player to eventually unlock the Infernal Rapier.

And, most interestingly, Mizora is a possible romanceable option for the player in Act 3, although this could have its own consequences if the player has a partner.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available to play on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
