Not every online PS Plus Extra game has cross-platform support, but these titles allow subscribers to play with Xbox or PC players.
Cross-platform games have gradually become more common over the last few years. That said, this feature is still not quite standard practice, and there are plenty of multiplayer titles that do not incorporate crossplay or utilize a limited version of one. As this option is not regularly highlighted by stores, it is not always obvious whether a release allows players from different ecosystems to come together.
PlayStation Plus Extra has its share of co-op and online games, but only a few of these titles support crossplay. However, this selection includes a couple of rather high-profile names. Which are the best cross-platform games on PS Plus?
Updated on April 27, 2024 by Mark Sammut: PS Plus' April 2024 additions did not emphasize crossplay, or multiplayer in general. Fortunately, Sony's subscription service already had a solid selection of crossplay games.
1 Mortal Kombat 11
Metascore: 82
Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PS4, PS5, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S Released April 23, 2019 Developer(s) NetherRealm Studios Genre(s) Fighting See at Playstation Store
Mortal Kombat 11 has been around for roughly four years, and NetherRealm's fighting game is still relatively active. While a fun single-player campaign is included, this content will only keep someone busy for a couple of play sessions and primarily serves to ease newcomers into the combat system.
Once the credits roll, it is time to jump online, which means facing off against (veteran) opponents. If "Krossplay" is activated, PS5 and PS4 owners can face off against Xbox users, although the former cannot play against PC players. As the different hardware involved are basically cut from the same cloth, MK11's crossplay should allow for balanced and fair matches.
2 Tetris Effect: Connected
Metascore: 93
Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S Released November 10, 2020 Developer(s) Monstars Inc , Resonair , Stage Games Genre(s) Puzzle See at Playstation Store
Tetris is one of those games everyone has played in some form or another. The definition of a classic, the concept's timelessness is undisputed, but that does not mean it cannot be modernized. Tetris Effect revamps the traditional formula by smartly incorporating music into the gameplay, resulting in an almost rhythm-like experience. At its core, this is still the Tetris that most people know and love, but the changes are significant enough to make the game feel fresh.
Connected takes the base Tetris Effect package and adds multiplayer, both in the form of co-op and PvP. Both work fairly well, and they are enhanced by the title's crossplay support. Even though it has been out for a while, this release remains a good option for anyone searching for a quick online option.
3 Dead By Daylight
Metascore: 64
Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S Released June 14, 2016 Developer(s) Behaviour Interactive Genre(s) Horror , Survival See at Playstation Store
Dead by Daylight rules over the 4v1 asymmetric horror subgenre, and there is nothing to suggest the game will be relinquishing its crown anytime soon. Behaviour's project pits four survivors against a single killer, with the former having to work as a unit but still relatively independently while trying to stay alive. The core gameplay is more than adequate, but Dead by Daylight's longevity can be credited to its vast range of playable characters, both in terms of survivors and killers. Alongside original creations, the roster includes horror icons from both movies and games.
Except for mobile, Dead by Daylight allows people from all systems to play together. That said, crossplay can be disabled if someone would prefer to stick to their own community. Like quite a few of the best crossplay games on PS Plus Extra, Dead by Daylight is also on Xbox Game Pass.
4 Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S Released March 25, 2022 Developer(s) Gearbox Software Genre(s) Action RPG , FPS See at Playstation Store
Borderlands is synonymous with co-op. Sure, all the games can be enjoyed in single-player, but they truly come alive when a few Vault Hunters team up. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is no exception; in fact, the spin-off is arguably an even better fit for co-op since the campaign is inspired by DnD, a pastime that is almost exclusively a group activity. Unsurprisingly, the 2022 game launched with crossplay enabled, allowing players from all ecosystems to join forces. While a great feature and selling point, some reports suggest that performance varies depending on the connecting systems. PCs with consoles seem to produce the most mixed results, so a group's mileage may vary.
Still, assuming the performance is fine, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is an easy recommendation for players seeking a relatively lengthy FPS with some light RPG elements. As with the main entries, players can pick from an assortment of character classes, each of which comes with multiple skill trees that allow for varied builds. In single-player, this variety mainly heightens the game's replay value; in co-op, it encourages teams to synergize their builds.
5 For Honor

Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS4, PS4, Xbox One, & Xbox Series X/S Released February 14, 2017 Developer(s) Ubisoft Montreal Genre(s) Action See at Playstation Store
All things considered, For Honor has probably lasted longer than most people expected. While never quite blossoming into an inescapable juggernaut comparable to the likes of Fortnite or Overwatch, the multiplayer game has amassed a fairly hardcore fanbase that continues to keep the servers alive all these years later. To the company's credit, Ubisoft did a decent job of supporting the title to justify that type of devotion. Launching at a time when crossplay was not common practice, For Honor did not receive the feature until 2022 when it was added in two phases. Nowadays, players from all ecosystems can enter the same battlefield across a few different modes.
At this point, new players might struggle to get a foothold since they will be diving into a war fought by solely veterans, and For Honor has always had a steep learning curve. As such, Ubisoft's game will probably not attract too many newcomers at this stage in its lifespan. Nevertheless, crossplay should help to keep the project alive for as long as possible.
6 Need For Speed Unbound
Metascore: 77
Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Released December 2, 2022 Developer(s) Criterion Games Genre(s) Racing , Open-World Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS5 & Xbox Series X|S See at Playstation Store
Need for Speed Unbound has a fairly mixed reputation, which has become something of a trend for EA's racing franchise in recent years. The game garnered attention for incorporating a flashy art style that makes use of comic-esque flourishes, and this creative decision did its job of setting the entry apart from other open-world racers on the market. Although impressive and a worthwhile addition, ultimately, the graphics are not that important nor will they determine if someone keeps coming back for more. That will come down to content and replayability, areas Unbound is decent in.
The game's single-player and multiplayer are split into two distinct modes, with the latter taking the form of Lakeshore Online. Once online, players can build up a garage of cars, a process that used to be a grind but became more manageable after a few updates. Along with setting up meetups or engaging in a co-op mode that tasks players with achieving goals as a team, racers can also freely explore the map and engage in activities. Fun can be had, even if Unbound's 16 players per server system can occasionally make finding opponents harder than it should be.
Unbound fully supports crossplay, allowing PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players to share the same world. Considering it is available on PS Plus, EA Play, and – by extension – Game Pass Ultimate, this title's shelf life should not be expiring anytime soon. Criterion has also announced plans to keep supporting Unbound throughout 2024.
7 Back 4 Blood

Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Released October 12, 2021 Developer(s) Turtle Rock Studios Genre(s) FPS Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS5 & Xbox Series X|S and PS4 & Xbox One See at Playstation StoreSee at Amazon
Back 4 Blood is a first-person co-op shooter with a horror edge. Turtle Rock's game undeniably takes inspiration from Left 4 Dead, and from all the imitators out there, Back 4 Blood arguably comes the closest to replicating the magic of Valve's franchise. The core campaign should not hold too many surprises for fans of L4D, as the 2021 game sends four characters on a level-based adventure that largely revolves around persevering against hordes of zombie-style creatures.
Players can run through the stages with AI partners, but it is not the ideal way to experience Back 4 Blood. As crossplay is supported, the game makes it as simple as possible for friends to team up for an explosive romp through post-apocalyptic Earth.
8 Riders Republic
Metascore: 77
Close PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium Platforms That Support Crossplay PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S Released October 28, 2021 Developer(s) Ubisoft Annecy Genre(s) Sports , Racing See at Playstation Store
Another Ubisoft multiplayer project, Riders Republic did not really make that much of a mainstream splash upon release, which is a shame as there are not all that many quality extreme sports games on the market. Still, the release has stuck to its Year 2 roadmap so far, with season 6's Cutting Edge update even adding hoverboards to the mix. Riders Republic drops players in a gorgeous open-world littered with activities revolving around a few disciplines like skiing, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Although people can prioritize one field over the others, they will generally need to try their hand at every sport.
Riders Republic supports cross-platform play across all its platforms, creating a united community. While by no means shallow, the gameplay is better suited to create a level playing field than, for instance, an FPS; consequently, there are not as many advantages to playing on PC over consoles.
