A Destiny 2 player has managed to clear the Salvation's Edge raid solo for the first time ever. Normally designed to be completed by a full team of six players, Destiny 2 raids are among the hardest challenges in the game, which would make this solo completion one of the rarest accomplishments in the game's history so far.
Destiny 2 is a game with massive scope and a range of activities available for players of all persuasions and skill levels. However, one of the most demanding gameplay modes to be found in it is raiding. Raids are the largest and most complex challenges in Destiny 2, often demanding large amounts of time from entire groups of skilled, well-equipped players just to complete. As if to add to the demanding nature of the mode, raiding is typically exempt from the automated matchmaking system that matches players up for most other Destiny 2 activities, with developer Bungie reasoning that raid encounters are often too mechanically complex and coordination-dependent to be enjoyable by a group of players brought together purely at random.
That didn't stop Destiny 2 player and Twitch streamer Bog On My Dog, though, as he accomplished what is possibly one of the hardest PVE (player versus environment) feats in Destiny 2 at the moment: Completing the Salvation's Edge raid alone. Bog On My Dog posted his triumph on Twitter after defeating the final encounter of Salvation's Edge, a full boss fight against The Witness itself, live on stream.
Bog On My Dog Uses Impressive Skill to Finish Salvation's Edge Raid Solo
In the brief, minute-long clip posted to Twitter, Bog On My Dog showed off the last few seconds of the game's final encounter, a pitched battle against a massive, multi-armed version of The Witness, in an arena swarming with foes. Bog On My Dog accomplished his feat while playing as a Prismatic Subclass Hunter equipped with the Golden Gun Super and the Celestial Nighthawk Exotic helm to improve its damage. Bog On My Dog also used a hand cannon, a heavy grenade launcher, and the Exotic Still Hunt sniper rifle in his loadout, allowing him to deal high amounts of precision damage to The Witness. In addition, Bog also utilized fast loudout swaps to better optimize their DPS output during specific phases of the fight.
Despite being well-equipped, soloing the raid was no easy task for Bog On My Dog. Completing a mode meant to challenge a team of six while solo necessitates near-perfect execution at every phase, particularly in grueling Salvation's Edge encounters like Verity, which was meant to force a team to split up to accomplish its mechanics. From the beginning of his attempt to solo the raid, Bog On My Dog advanced over the course of 20 streams and more than 160 hours of play in total. Bog On My Dog has achieved a monumental feat in the Destiny 2 community so far, adding to his already impressive tally of PvE accomplishments.
