Elden Ring: How to Get the Omen Set (Dung Eater Armor)

Dung Eater comes pretty close to being the most mysterious. Showing up at the Roundtable Hold – seemingly out of nowhere — to make everyone uncomfortable, there is very little guidance regarding how players should approach this vile being. While this is hardly surprising for a FromSoftware character, the lack of information on the Dung Eater makes him all the more intriguing. There are many questions that players ask about this character, but one of the most common is: can I get the Dung Eater's armor?

The Dung Eater's armor is called the Omen Set, and yes, it can be acquired. The method of doing so is not readily apparent, but like many of the NPC's and bosses in the game, his gear can be taken. Interestingly, the

Omen Set is one of Elden Ring's most powerful armor sets, offering incredible protection, though its weight may be an issue for some players. Here, we will show you exactly how to get the set, including the steps you'll need to take to find the Dung Eater.

Visit the Altus Plateau to Trigger the Dung Eater's Arrival

The Dung Eater actually has a full quest, and plays an important role in Elden Ring 's 'Blessing of Despair' ending . However, to get his armor early, you will have to kill him as soon as you find him. This will lock you out of both his quest and the ending.

The Dung Eater will first appear in the Roundtable Hold approximately half of the way through Elden Ring, only after you've visited the Altus Plateau. However, he is not present in his physical form. He appears to be separated from his corporeal body, similar to the form invaders take. He is located down the all from

Gideon Ofnir 's chambers, past the

Twin Maiden Husks . If the door is locked, you're too early. If you complete Roderika's quest and allow her to handle Spirit Tuning, she will notify you when the Dung Eater has made his way into the hold.

Speaking to the Dung Eater at this point is essentially pointless, as he does not seem interested in having any kind of meaningful interaction. However, once you collect your first

Seedbed Curse , you can return to him and begin the process of finding the Omen Set.

Where to Find a Seedbed Curse

Close

The Seedbed Curse that is likely the easiest to find is in Leyndell, Royal Capital. After entering the capital and touching the East Capital Rampart site of grace, you'll want to follow the main path past the first magic horn-playing Envoys, you'll pass through a room covered with vegetation. Exit to the right, then take the elevator down. Heading into the next room, you'll see a single Perfumer, along with a Commoner sitting on the ground. To the right of them is a ladder, which can be difficult to see in the shadows. Climb that ladder, then take the stairs up to the top chamber. In the main room, you'll see a dead body in a chair with a rare item on its lap. This is the Seedbed Curse.

Head back to the Dung Eater at the Roundtable Hold. This time he will respond differently when you speak to him, ultimately giving you the Sewer Gaol Key, and telling you to find his real body in the sewer gaol beneath the capital. Now you can head into the sewers and get the Omen set. There is only one choice you must make: do you kill him now, and get his armor as early as possible, or do you see his quest through to the end?

To get the Dung Eater's armor set as early as possible, you'll need to find him and kill him immediately. He is found in an area beneath Leyndell known as the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. To reach this area, you'll want to start from the Avenue Balcony site of grace in

Leyndell, Royal Capital .

From Avenue Balcony, head down the stairs towards the Leyndell Knight, who shoots arrows. Head along the left edge of this area, towards the rear where the dragon wing is. When you reach the wing, look over the rail and you'll see a small well. Jump down and enter the well. Follow these steps after entering the well:

  • Turn left through the gate.
  • Go down the ladder.
  • Continue ahead, making the only turn you can.
  • Head southeast down the hall. You'll reach a stair set with rats nearby. Go straight.
  • Go through the wooden door to enter the Subterranean Shunning Grounds.
  • You'll notice three Omen patrolling the hallway below. Drop and head northeast (left) down the hallway, taking out the

    Omen , or sneaking by.

  • Not long after dropping, you'll notice a door on the left. Inside is the Underground Roadside site of grace.
  • Continue northeast down the hall.
  • Just before the gate at the end, you'll find a hole in the grated floor. The hole will be on the left. Drop into the hole.
  • Head northwest through the sewer, past the rats.
  • At the end of the hall, turn left to find three Giant Miranda Sprouts. You can kill them, or run by.
  • After the flowers, climb the ladder at the end of the hall.
  • At the top of the ladder, turn the corner to reach the Sewer Gaol. Be careful, as there are several Lesser Fingercreepers, and one large Fingercreeper, buried in the dirt — these are the small and large crawling hand enemies you faced in Caria Manor. These enemies are extremely weak to fire, so make sure to have some type of fire-based weapon or throwable handy.

Encountering the Dung Eater

When you reach the Sewer Gaol, you'll hear the Dung Eater speaking and banging his head against the wall. Use the Sewer Gaol Key to unlock the cell. It is at this point you can either kill him, and claim the Omen set immediately, or you can continue Elden Ring's Dung Eater quest, and get the Omen Set at the very end.

Killing the Dung Eater here also allows you access to the
