Some Elden Ring players are wondering how Romina, one of Shadow of the Erdtree's Remembrance bosses, ended up having no cutscene in the DLC despite her importance. Only a few Remembrance bosses in Elden Ring's base game lacked a cinematic intro.
Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring's sole expansion that was released on June 21, introduced new Remembrance bosses scattered across the Land of Shadow. Among them is Romina, Saint of the Bud, a major enemy located in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh region that players have to defeat should they wish to complete the DLC's main story. While considered an important boss in Shadow of the Erdtree, players may have noticed that Romina's fight lacked something that was present in the duels of her peers: an in-game cinematic.
In a recent post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user OK_Conflict_6260 said it made no sense for Romina to have no cutscene in Shadow of the Erdtree. A commenter claimed that they thought Romina was just one of Shadow of the Erdtree's optional bosses, while another criticized the lack of context and build up for the Saint of the Bud's fight. One more community member said that there should have been more lore interactions regarding Romina's location that has been infected with the Scarlet Rot. "Still have no idea why I was going through that place at all," the Reddit user said.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Bosses with Cutscenes
Many of Shadow of the Erdtree's major fights actually do not feature in-game cutscenes, and out of the expansion's 10 bosses who drop a Remembrance upon death, only four were accompanied with one. These four are the Divine Beast Dancing Lion; Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame; Messmer the Impaler; and Shadow of the Erdtree's challenging final boss, Radahn. Meanwhile, nearly all the 15 Remembrance bosses in Elden Ring's base game played a cutscene, with the exceptions being the Regal Ancestor Spirit; Astel, Naturalborn of the Void; and Lichdragon Fortissax.
Elden Ring fans recently found a deleted Shadow of the Erdtree cutscene that involved the mysterious character St. Trina. This interaction, which was discovered by data miner and content creator Sekiro Dubi, was supposed to be a fourth cutscene with St. Trina that would have been triggered following the defeat of Radahn.
Data miners have uncovered other content that never made it to the final release of Elden Ring, including items, pieces of dialogue, and entire questlines. References found in the game's files have even led some to theorize that the critically acclaimed RPG was supposed to have a seventh ending.
