Ex-Dishonored Devs Tease Their Next Game

Highlights

  • WolfEye Studios' head Raphael Colantonio is hinting at a new game reminiscent of Dishonored and Prey.
  • Colantonio, one of the original creators of Dishonored, left Arkane Austin in 2017 to open WolfEye Studios.
  • Fans are asked to keep an eye on the studio's social media pages over the next few days for more information.

Former Arkane Studios developer and the current head of WolfEye Studios, Raphael Colantonio, thinks fans of Dishonored and Prey will be pleased with the studio's next game. One of the original creators of Dishonored and a founder of Arkane Austin, Raphael Colantonio also served as the creative director of Prey before departing the studio in 2017. Two years later, in 2019, Colantonio popped up once more to announce his new venture, WolfEye Studios, along with its debut title, a fantastical isometric western RPG named Weird West.

At the 2023 Game Awards, Arkane Lyon's Dinga Bakaba took the stage to reveal the studio's exciting new game, the third-person title Marvel's Blade. Several months later, its sister studio, Arkane Austin, was included in a series of unfortunate and puzzling studio closures at Xbox alongside Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Studios. Hard at work after leaving the ill-fated studio, Colantonio devoted his time to Weird West. Utilizing a unique art style and immersive RPG mechanics, Weird West received notable praise upon its 2022 release despite it straying far from Colantonio's past work at Arkane.

Just over two years since the release of Weird West, Raphael Colantonio took to Twitter to share that WolfEye will reveal new information about its next game sometime in the next couple of days. He goes on to say that WolfEye's new title will satisfy fans of his previous first-person immersive sims Dishonored and Prey, indicating that the studio could be moving away from the isometric RPG style of Weird West.

WolfEye Studios' Next Game Could Be More Like Dishonored And Prey

Colantonio's direct mention of first-person games and name-dropping Dishonored and Prey all but confirms that WolfEye's next game is going to be a first-person experience, though it's hard to tell whether the game will continue Weird West's RPG leanings, or if Colantonio is returning to his immersive sim roots. Understandably, some fans who adored Dishonored and Prey felt let down by Weird West's status as an isometric RPG. Despite the game's overall success, Colantonio is looking to once again please immersive sim fans who may not have been into Weird West's deeper RPG elements and top-down perspective.

Colantonio indicates that WolfEye is gearing up for its next big reveal soon, so fans should keep an eye on the studio's social media for any new teasers or announcements. As for Arkane Studios and the fate of the Dishonored and Prey franchises, with the heartbreaking closure of Arkane Austin by Xbox earlier this year and its surviving sister studio busy with Marvel's Blade, it may be a while before Arkane fans could potentially see news regarding another Dishonored or Prey game. Hopefully, WolfEye's next game helps fill that void for immersive sim fans.
