How to repair Power Armor in Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 players know just how important Power Armor is to the overall experience. Aside from the incredible benefits they offer, Power Armor is, simply put, just really cool. It has been associated with the Fallout franchise since its earliest days, appearing on the cover of nearly every major release. It is important to remember, however, that Power Armor does have some negative aspects that offer some sense of balance. Like all armor in the game, it can deteriorate and break. When that happens, it is important to know where to fix armor in Fallout 4.
Repairing Power Armor in Fallout 4 is essentially the same as repairing regular armor. However, it can be tricky to figure out where exactly to accomplish this task, especially early in the game. This guide will teach players exactly where to go to repair their Power Armor, and what they'll need to get it done.
How to Repair Power Armor in Fallout 4
For many players, the first set of Power Armor they find in Fallout 4 will be the set found during 'When Freedom Calls,' the first mission to help Preston Garvey and the Minutemen. When first entering the set of T-45 Power Armor, players will notice a small diagram on the left side of the HUD.

This diagram depicts the status of each piece of armor, and players can see that multiple pieces are shown in red. A section in red means that a piece of Power Armor needs repair. If players go too long without fixing it, it will break entirely, and stop offering any protection.
Power Armor Stations:
To fix any set of Power Armor in Fallout 4, players will first need to find or craft a Power Armor station. Once players know what they are looking for, the station is easy to spot. While there is more than one type of Power Armor station, they all share the same basic features: two yellow posts that look like small cranes, with two long, skinny platforms that sit on the ground. A Power Armor station can be seen in the main menu, holding the Power Armor in place.
How to Fix Power Armor:
Once players have found or crafted a station, approach it while wearing a suit of armor. Do not try to exit Power Armor too close to the station, even though that seems like it would be the obvious way to do it. Instead, exit a short distance from the station, then approach it and select the prompt for 'Craft' (X on PlayStation, A on Xbox).
The Power Armor set will then teleport onto the station, and the player is then free to repair or modify their armor set.
With the crafting menu open, highlight each piece of armor available. Look for the small dot to the left of each piece that indicates that it is currently equipped. Once a piece is highlighted, look at the information box shown on the lower left side of the screen. It will display the various stats and traits that apply to that piece. The health stat reveals whether a piece needs repair.
At this point, to repair the armor, the player simply needs to press Y (Xbox) or Triangle (PS). This will bring up a confirmation box that reveals how many materials are required for the repair. In the beginning, only steel will be needed. However, as the pieces become more complex, the requirements for repair will too.
Where to Find Power Armor Stations in Fallout 4
If players find themselves in dire need of a Power Armor station, and do not want to fast-travel back to a camp, there are a few places where they can be found in the wild.
- Red Rocket: The gas stations in Fallout 4 are going to be a good location to find Power Armor stations. Look for the rocket symbol on the compass to see if one is in range.
- Industrial Locations/Factories: These locations are practically guaranteed to have a station. Think of locations like the Corvega Assembly Plant. Locations where any type of manufacturing is done are a very safe bet.
- Military Bases/Installments: Given how prevalent Power Armor use was in the military, it should hardly be surprising that these places are a good place to find stations.
While players can find Power Armor Stations in the wild, the best choice is to simply build a station at every new settlement and camp that is brought into the fold. They require players to have the Lvl. 2 Local Leader perk (Charisma, tier 6), and the Lvl. 1 Armorer perk (Strength, tier 3)
