- Fallout 4 player uses buses as defensive barriers with turrets.
- Bases like Boston Airport, Hangman's Alley, and The Castle can use this strategy.
- No mods used; materials like Circuitry, Steel, and Wood required for build.
A Fallout 4 player has shared their unique idea of using buses as defensive barriers in their Settlements. There are many ways for Fallout 4 gamers to defend their bases, but this may be ideal for outer perimeters.
One of the standout Fallout 4 features that wasn't part of the previous games was the Settlement building tools. Using this system, players could establish numerous locations as their own unique bases. Among the popular Fallout 4 Settlements are Boston Airport, Hangman's Alley, The Castle, and Sanctuary Hills. For players to create new structures in these Settlements, they will need materials like Circuitry, Plastic, Steel, and Wood. These items can be acquired by scrapping Junk, with the menu highlighting what materials will be acquired. One gamer has an idea to improve the security at their Settlements by implementing buses around their perimeter.
Reddit user TheGodlessPotato recently shared a clip highlighting their unique idea for placing turrets inside buses that are strategically located around their Settlement. The clip begins with the player facing a bus that's stacked on top of another bus, with multiple turrets visible in their windows. The player then circles the double-decker bus to show that four turrets face the other direction as well, making these buses particularly deadly for invaders. The footage then shows a bus that's used as a guard station, with turrets on top, and a Fallout 4 NPC patrolling inside of it. The footage then showcases this bus at nighttime to highlight the colorful lighting that turns the structure into a beacon that can be seen from a wide distance.
What Materials Are Required for This Fallout 4 Build?
- Biometric Scanner
- Circuitry
- Enhanced Targeting Card
- Fuse
- Glass
- Military-grade Circuit Board
- Power Relay Coil
- Steel
- Vacuum Tube
According to TheGodlessPotato, no Fallout 4 mods were used to create these Settlement defense structures. Haystacks had to be used inside the double-decker so that turrets could reach the height of the windows, resulting in floating turrets due to how objects snap together in the build menu. Each turret at the front of the bus is easily placed on the center drive console without requiring any tricks. Metal walls block the entrance to the double-decker, preventing potential invaders from easily damaging the turrets, while the entrance to the other bus faces inward. Given the structures surrounding the turrets, this defense build could be essential for Settlements that regularly get attacked because the turrets are hard to damage.
As Fallout 4 rarely receives updates these days, it's unlikely that this Settlement defense idea will be topped by future additions. Because Preston Garvey regularly warns players about Settlements that are under attack, they may want to implement this idea for the areas the NPC mentions.
