Fallout 4 made settlement building a large part of the franchise. All that junk in the wasteland can be used to make a fortified base or a town bustling with trade. You can also use junk components to upgrade your armor, weapons, and power armor.

Crystal is one of the crafting components you can scavenge from junk. It's useful for many settlement objects, including the Recruitment Radio Beacon that you can build to attract more settlers. Crystal can also be used in energy weapon modifications. Here is where you can find crystal while exploring the wasteland in Fallout 4.

Junk Items

Junk items found in the wasteland can be broken down into their base components. The scrapper perk will give you double the number of components if you get it to Level 3. Crystals can be found in cameras and other items that contain lenses. The Institute has many microscopes and cameras in its laboratories.

One of the best sources of crystals will be laser tripwires. Make sure to carefully disarm any that you see. These are all the items that contain crystals and some locations where you can find them.

You can also purchase shipments of junk components from vendors all over the Commonwealth. This is a way to buy components in bulk. Prices can be steep, but it's very convenient if you don't want to dig through pre-war junk.

Once you buy the shipment, a note will be in your inventory. Bring this note and store it in your workshop to redeem it. Here are the vendors where you can purchase crystal shipments.
