One method is fairly simple but will cost the player several hundred caps, while the other is free but will require a little more effort. Follow this guide to learn how to get the plans, how to craft the station, and how to use it in the game.
Article updated on May 3, 2024, by Benjamin Joe: Fallout 76 has changed a lot over the past couple of years. It's had a lot of updates that have brought in new weapons, armor types, and missions for players to enjoy. Because of this, it's time to update this article. Also, thanks to the release of the hit Fallout TV series, lots of new players are downloading the game and heading out into the wasteland for the very first time. Power Armor is an integral part of Fallout 76. Players who enjoy using Power Armor will need to mod and repair their set fairly regularly. So, obtaining the plan to build a Power Armor Station is a must.
Buying The Power Armor Station Plan
There's More Than One Place To Buy The Plan
- Vendor Bot Phoenix in Watoga Shopping Plaza
- MODUS Production Terminal Inside The Whitespring Bunker
- Brotherhood Vendor Bot Inside The Whitespring Mall
As shown above, there are three locations where the player can purchase the plan for the Power Armor Station. The price is the same no matter which vendor the plan is purchased from. The base price is 1050 Caps. However, the price can be reduced by equipping the perk Hard Bargain.
While it doesn't really matter where the player buys the plan from, there are some things to keep in mind about the vendors. If the player hasn't completed the quest Mayor For A Day, then the robots all over Watoga will be hostile. Also, unless the player has completed the main quest, Bunker Buster, they won't be able to enter the Whitespring Bunker.
If the player hasn't completed either of the quests listed above, then the best bet is to head to the Whitespring Mall and buy the plan from the Brotherhood Vendor Bot.
Once the player has learned the plan, they must find the following items to craft the Power Armor Station:
- 12 Aluminum
- 3 Circuitry
- 4 Oil
- 6 Fiberglass
- 4 Plastic
- 6 Gears
- 4 Screws
Build the station at either the Workshop or C.A.M.P. and voila, the power armor station is ready for use.
Miner Miracles
A Free Way To Get The Plan
- Head To The Garrahan Mining Headquarters
- Read The Posted Inside The Building
- Build A Power Armor Set
- Register The Power Armor Set With The Mainframe
Alternatively, there is a questline that players can complete if they don't have enough caps to make the purchase. Gamers can play through the Miner Miracles questline and pick up the plans as a reward. It should be noted that the character must be at least level 25 to complete the quest.
Head to Garrahan Mining Headquarters and complete the objectives to earn the plans for free. The Mining Headquarters is all the way on the southwest corner of the map behind the Garrahan Estate. To complete the mission, gamers will have to collect a lot of scrap and find black titanium. The quest is initiated by reading the poster at the front of the HQ.
With a fair amount of resources, players will be able to head down to the mine and build the suit at one of the stations. Players can register the suit by hitting the red button on the other side of the stations on the lower level, which will complete the objective and give users the plans for the power station.
Players will also learn how to craft an Excavator Power Armor as a reward for finishing the mission. Not a bad trade for a few minutes of effort. The Excavator suit gives the user +100 carry weight, as well as the ability to mine twice the materials in the same amount of time.
Getting The Necessary Resources
Hunt For The Right Materials
Scrap is found all over Appalachia. Meanwhile, black titanium can be mined from the workshop adjacent to Vault 76 (Gorge Junkyard). However, this will require the player to build a mineral extractor, and the ore will need to be smelted.
Mining takes a lot of time and effort for a small yield. The best method is to track down and kill Mole Miners. Mole Miners are located all over Appalachia. However, they are mostly located in and around the Ash Heap Region. Some good places to find lots of Mole Miners can be seen below:
- Welsh
- Mount Blair Trainyard
- Burning Mine
Players can also get some Black Titanium from Deathclaws. Deathclaws can be found in several areas:
- Abandoned Waste Dump
- Deathclaw Island
- Thunder Mountain Substation TM-02
Power Armor Station Skins
There's A Design To Suit Everyone
Like in most video games, Fallout 76 has its own in-game store. Here, players can spend Atoms to buy various skins, C.A.M.P. items, and boosters. The store gets updated every Tuesday, so it's always worth keeping an eye out for any fun and interesting Power Armor Station skins.
Also, some Power Armor Station Skins can be unlocked by ranking up through the Season. However, each Season is only active for a limited amount of time, so the player will need to be sure to earn any Power Armor Station Skins before the Season ends.
Players can also buy and earn a whole slew of Power Armor skins. From camouflage-style skins to bright pink ones, there's a style to suit all tastes.
Using The Power Armor Station
It's Just Like Most Other Crafting Benches
At this point, players will be able to craft the station at a Workshop or C.A.M.P. using the materials listed above. After the user places the station, they can access it in order to modify or repair the different types of power armor in the game.
Modifications will provide noteworthy improvements to the armor's performance. Each type of power armor has dozens of different modifications that alter one piece of the armor set. Gamers can find mods and plans in the following places:
- Enemy Loot
- Quests
- Random Containers
- Random Encounters
- Seasonal Content Additions
- Treasure Map Locations
- Vendors
The vast majority of armor mods can be purchased from vendors. For example, the Brotherhood vendor sells a lot of plans. Get the plans for the mod, find the materials for that mod, and craft it at the Power Armor Station. With that, players will have all the information they need to get the plan for the station and use it to improve their armor in Fallout 76.
