As there are brand-new zones in the Dawntrail expansion of Final Fantasy 14, players will need to find a way to unlock flying in these areas. This requires finding all the Aether Currents in the area and attuning to them all properly. With 6 new zones to search through, this might take a bit of time to complete.

How to Unlock Flying in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
As we mentioned, to unlock flying in all six new regions in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, you will need to first find 10 Aether Currents in each region. You will also need to complete five quests in each of these areas, as these quests will allow you to find the remaining Aether Currents, since only 5 are readily available.
If you are struggling to find each Aether Current, make sure to use your Aether Compass to locate them. Once you have met all the requirements, you will be able to utilize your flying mount around the region. In the following sections, we will provide you with all the Aether Current locations in each area, as well as the quests you will need to complete.
Urqopacha Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
You can use the above map image to locate all the Aether Currents found in the region of Urqopacha. Most of them will automatically be found on the map when you arrive, while some will require you to complete some Main Scenario Quests, including:
- A Traveler to the Rescue
- A Crisis of Corruption
- An Illuminating Ritual
- The Flame Burns No More
- The Feat of Ice
Kozama'uka Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
The above map image will show you all the Aether Currents found in the region of Kozama'uka. Some will already be available upon arriving in the area, while some will require completing Main Scenario Quests to use your flying mount, including:
- Ripe for the Offering
- Rite of the Wind's Chosen
- Divine Inspiration
- All Good Potpacts Must Come to an End
- Sibling Rescue
Yak T'el Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
In this section, you will find all the Yak T'el Aether Currents in the above map image. As always, some will already be available, while some will require the following Main Scenario Quests to be completed:

- Beast of the Heartlands

Shaaloani Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
This section includes all the locations of the Aether Currents in Shaaloani. You can find them on the map image above, and they can either be found immediately or unlocked through the following quests:

- When the Bill Comes Due
- A Bad Case of the Blue Devils
- A Hot Commodity
Heritage Found Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
Use this section to find all the Aether Current locations in Heritage Found. They can be unlocked immediately, or through the following Main Scenario Quests:
- Stressed Testing
- Phyt for Survival
- He Who Remembers
- Aunty Knows Best
- Unto the Summit
Living Memory Aether Currents in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
The last location in the expansion to the popular RPG, Final Fantasy 14, is Living Memory, and this section will show you all the Aether Currents found in the area, shown in the map image above. You can unlock some of them through the following quests:
