Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail has led to several of the MMO's currencies being discontinued. Specifically, White Gatherer's Scrips, White Crafter's Scrips, Tomestones of Comedy, and Tomestones of Causality are being retired.
However, players can still convert any leftovers they have into something useful for a limited time. Keep reading to learn which currencies are going away, where to convert them, and what to spend your new currencies on if you hit the cap.
Which Currencies Are Discontinued In Dawntrail?
The types of Tomestones discontinued as of Dawntrail's release are:
- Tomestones of Comedy
- Tomestones of Causality
- White Gatherer's Scrips
- White Crafter's Scrips
These can be exchanged for Tomestones of Poetics or Purple Scrips, respectively.
Where To Exchange Discontinued Tomestones & Scrips
Scrips and Tomestones that have been discontinued are exchanged in Mor Dhona. Near Rowena's Sundries, you will find two NPCs — the Scrip Exchange Vendor (22.4, 6.7) and Auriana, The Servant of Splendors (22.7, 6.7).
The Scrip Vendor will exchange white scrips of both types for purple Scrips, while Auriana will exchange Tomestones of Comedy and Tomestones of Causality for Tomestones of Poetics.
What To Buy With Tomestones of Poetics
Gamers may notice that they can't exchange more Tomestones of Comedy and Causality because they are maxed out on Poetics. This is an easy fix, as players can spend Tomestones of Poetics with Sundry Merchants (located in each major city). Depending on which merchant is visited, there are several useful things to buy.
Augmented Credendum Gear
If every job isn't outfitted in the best Tomestone Gear from Endwalker (Augmented Credendum Gear IL 660) or better, this should be the first priority for spending Poetics. Most notably, the Endwalker Sundry Gear for Viper and Pictomancer is a good purchase.
Crafting Materials For Old Relic Weapons
A series of rare Crafting Materials is for sale at each Sundry Vendor, some of which can be used to craft Relic Weapons. This is a good purchase for players who think they may want to finish this questline for glamour purposes.
What To Buy With Purple Crafter's & Gatherer's Scrips
Likewise, players may reach the currency cap for Purple Scrips before having converted all of their White Scrips — especially if they make a habit of doing Custom Deliveries or Levequests. If this happens, there are a number of things to spend them on.
Crafter Or Gatherer Gear
Making sure players have one full set of each of the best Disciple of the Land/Hand gear is useful going into the new expansion. However, they can also buy the gear for Desynthesizing purposes, as this is the most reliable way to obtain high-level gear for desynthesis leveling.
Grade X Materia
Gear Affixable Materia is not only useful for the player's own gear but can also be sold on the market for Gil. When a new expansion comes out, this is especially lucrative. Usually, Crafter Materia and Gatherer Materia is the most valuable at the beginning of the expansion, while Savage Aim Materia is valuable later on.
Immutable Solutions
Immutable Solutions can be bought from Endwalker Scrip Vendors and are used to craft many level 90 Master Recipes. This makes them valuable for personal use or for selling on the Market using your Retainers.
Ingredients For Raid Food
Most high-end content requires players to go in geared to the teeth, and as a result, chowing down on the best food is a must. However, someone needs to make and sell all the food that these raiders eat. To that end, some of the game's best meals can only be crafted with ingredients sold at the Scrip Vendor, so stockpiling these items is very valuable.
Ingredients that have historically been very high value are Eggplant and Caviar Sturgeon.
