Considering Naoki Yoshida's earlier comments about there being no plans for Final Fantasy 16 DLC, the announcement of two story-related expansions at the 2023 Game Awards came as a bit of a surprise to many; albeit a welcome one. The first of those expansions, Echoes of the Fallen, was released mere hours after the announcement, but fans have been made to wait quite a bit longer for the second.
Thankfully, that wait is almost over, with the release date for The Rising Tide now looming large on the horizon. Unsurprisingly, many Final Fantasy 16 fans are keen to learn as much as they can about the upcoming DLC expansion, from its standalone price to its release time. Final Fantasy 16 DLC: The Rising Tide Release Date and Time
The Rising Tide DLC will be released on April 18, 2024. Based on the release time for Echoes of the Fallen and other PlayStation Store DLC expansions, it seems safe to assume that The Rising Tide will be released at midnight EST. This means that some people living in other parts of the States will actually be able to start playing the expansion on the evening of April 17, with those operating on PST able to start playing The Rising Tide at 9 PM rather than at midnight.
Can I Pre-Load The Rising Tide?
Players were unable to preload Echoes of the Fallen, so there's a chance that this will once again be the case with The Rising Tide, though this may just have been down to the fact that the first DLC was released just a few hours after it was announced. That said, the devs have confirmed that Final Fantasy 16's free 1.30 update will be dropping on April 18, so it's possible that players won't be able to download The Rising Tide until then. Of course, until the expansion is available to purchase separately or Square Enix makes an official announcement, there's no way of telling for sure.
How Much Will The Rising Tide Cost?
As of the time of writing, it isn't possible to purchase The Rising Tide on its own. However, with the expansion pass being priced at $25 and Echoes of the Fallen costing $10, many are predicting that The Rising Tide will cost $20 when purchased separately, with the assumption being that buying both pieces of DLC together via the expansion pass should offer some kind of discount. This has certainly been the case with other DLC expansion/season passes, though is by no means guaranteed.
