Leveling up is the easiest way to get stronger in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and the EXP Up Materia makes it even easier; here’s where to get it.
Leveling up in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth increases the base stats of the affected character, making them stronger in just about every way. Despite having such a large cast, all party members earn XP from battle, even those who didn't participate to make sure no one gets left behind and unusable later in the game.
Throughout the game, players will be juggling each individual character's level, the Party Level, Materia level, folios, and weapon proficiency, all to make their characters stronger. While all these things can help prepare your party for what's next, nothing beats just straight leveling up, and the EXP Up Materia can speed that process up significantly.
Where To Get The EXP Up Materia
Close
There is only one EXP Up Materia in the game, and it is obtained in Chapter 13, at the Temple Of Ancients. Progress through the temple until you reach the waterfall and jump down. After landing in the pool of water, go up the stairs and take a left and another set of stairs. After defeating the monsters on the next platform, turn around and take the next set of stairs higher up that are right next to the way you just came from. Ahead and to the right will be the Amberstar Gear.
Turn the Amberstar Gear once, clockwise, and shift gravity. Follow to new path off to the left and defeat the two Ancient Dragons at the top of the stairs. Ancient Dragons are weak to wind and being hit with a few spells will also knock them down to make them easy targets for melee fighters in your party. Finally, head through the gate to the right of the stairs to find the EXP Up Materia on the next platform over.
How Does The EXP Up Materia Work
Despite being equipped with only one character, the EXP Up Materia benefits the entire party, earning double the normal amount of experience. This works as the Materia boosts the amount of XP given upon defeating a monster, at which time that XP is divided among the party, making sure everyone stays close in level and no one shoots ahead with this Materia equipped.
This Materia is already at its best when found as it can't rank up and doesn't need to earn AP. While this will offer a huge boost in EXP, finishing the game and unlocking Hard Mode can be combined with this Materia to have the entire party quickly hit the max level.
