From the moment Zelda is free to explore Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, she’ll begin to encounter side-quests. One of the earliest she’ll come across is «Finding the Flying Plant,» in Suthorn Village. This quest is the first of many that require Zelda to use a vague set of descriptions to collect and display a specific enemy Echo. As the name of the quest suggests, this mission tasks Zelda with locating a flying plant Echo. This guide will show players where to find the flying plant in Echoes of Wisdom, and what you’ll get for completing «Finding the Flying Plant».
How to Start Finding the Flying Plant in Echoes of Wisdom
Zelda can begin «Finding the Flying Plant» after completing the Suthorn Ruins dungeon, and returning to Suthorn Village. When you return, head to the house in the southwestern corner of the village. There, you’ll find an old man standing outside with a telltale red and white exclamation mark in his speech bubble, signifying a new side-quest is available. Speak to him to start «Finding the Flying Plant»
Flying Plant Request:
Upon speaking to the man, he will reveal that his wife is worried about the monsters in the area, so he’d like to cheer her up with a rare plant he discovered but was not able to gather himself. This is when he reveals that he is looking for a flying plant. While the game doesn’t explicitly state this, it’s pretty clear that you’ll need to summon an Echo to fulfill the request. The Echo you’ll need to summon is the Peahat.
How to Get the Peahat Echo in Echoes of Wisdom
If you did any exploration before visiting the Suthorn Ruins, it’s highly possible you’ll already have the Peahat Echo. If you do not yet have it, you will not have to travel far to collect it.
Your destination is a cave just south of the Suthorn Ruins temple entrance. You can use the Fast-Travel waypoint, which sits in between the temple and the cave. From the waypoint, make your way south to the cave shown on the above map. Head inside and make your way down to the end of the first corridor. You will find the Peahat in the clearing at the end of the cave.
How to Defeat the Peahat:
If you only have basic Echoes, your best friend is going to be Bind. Even with the Zol, you can hold the Peahat in place with Bind and let the Zol attack. You should have unlocked the Swordfighter Form in the Suthorn Ruins, so that is also a viable option if you have the energy.
Finding the Flying Plant Rewards in Echoes of Wisdom
Once you have the Peahat Echo, return to the old man in Suthorn Village. Summon the Peahat directly in front of him, and he’ll automatically react. He will be shocked to find out that the Peahat is not actually a plant, but a monster. Nonetheless, he will be grateful that Zelda took the time to complete the quest. For doing this, he will reward Zelda with a single Might Crystal. These rare objects are how Zelda can upgrade Swordfighter Form in Echoes of Wisdom.
This will conclude «Finding the Flying Plant» – make sure to use the Peahat in combat when you get the chance, as it is one of the better early-game combat Echoes.
