Securing guns and ammo is critical for making progress in Gray Zone Warfare, and players will need to stock up if they want to stay competitive.
Like all the vast majority of other extraction shooters, equipment plays a key part in Gray Zone Warfare. The better your gear, the better your odds of surviving an incursion. If you die, you'll likely lose your gear for good, so it's best not to let that happen.
If you do drop all your equipment while doing some of Gray Zone Warfare's quests, you'll still have the option to get more guns and ammo for future runs. Here's a quick overview on how to get more gear and how to expand trader inventories.
Where To Buy Guns And Ammo In Gray Zone Warfare
As of the early access version, players can only buy weapons and ammo from vendors while they're inside their respective factions' bases. Press the Tab button to open up the menus screen, then click on the Vendors tab to check all available NPC merchants. In the beginning, Gunny will be the only weapons vendor available. Lab Rat and Handshake sell healing items and armor respectively.
At first, Gunny will sell only basic equipment, such as the standard M4A1 carbine, Glock 17 pistol, and M870 shotgun. He also sells parts for each of these weapons in case you find yourself needing them when customizing weapons. Gunny will also have some aftermarket parts like sights, handguards, and other attachments for sale.
Purchase an ACOG sight and a matching rail mount for it as soon as possible to help you with GZW's long engagement distances .
Finding and Recovering Gear In-Raid
You can take home the majority of guns you find while in-raid, assuming you have the carrying capacity to do so. NPC fighters tend to carry basic AKMs with a bunch of loaded magazines, and they're great if you're looking for free guns and ammo in Gray Zone Warfare. As you progress through the war zone, you'll encounter more heavily-armed NPCs with better gear.
If you died in a previous raid, there's still a chance for you to get your stuff back. Simply head back to the place where you died and loot your body. This is a great way to recover loot if a buddy fails to revive you in GZW, especially if you've already kitted out your gun or bought expensive armor. It's unclear if player bodies despawn after a certain time, so make sure to return to your corpse as soon as possible just to be on the safe side.
