As you explore the open battlefields of The First Descendant, you may come across Encrypted Vaults that can't be opened. To crack these caches, you're going to need some Code Analyzers, but getting these key items is a lot easier said than done.
Code Analyzers and Ultra-Precision Code Analyzers are very easy to overlook. They're rare items that players may randomly get while they play through The First Descendant. If you're out there specifically trying to look for these items, here's a short guide to point you to the right direction.
The First Descendant: Where To Find Code Analyzers And Ultra-Precision Code Analyzers
All kinds of Code Analyzers are actually just random drops from enemies anywhere in Ingris. If you pull up their info tab, you'll see that they all drop from Mission Monsters from all areas in The First Descendant like Kingston, Vespers, and the Sterile Lands.
With that said, the drop rate for these items is fairly lower. That's especially the case for Ultra-Precision Code Analyzers. And, since they are only from enemy drops (not mission rewards), you'll want to farm missions with high enemy counts.
One such mission is the Large Nuclear Reactor in the Classified Area region of the Sterile Lands. Here, all you need to do is hold a point against waves of melee enemies. It takes only a few minutes to complete, and you don't need to go anywhere. Just hold your position and take everything down.
There's also the Anticipated Ambush Point mission in Rockfall, which is also in the Sterile Lands. This mission involves a bit more legwork, but it's nothing too difficult to complete. Descendants like Bunny or anyone else with high potential for damage can easily clear this mission in a few minutes as well.
How To Use Code Analyzers
Code Analyzers are for opening Encrypted Vaults, which are basically locked chests hidden in different parts of each map. You'll know that one is nearby when you see a greenish hologram of a microchip on the ground.
There are three types of Encrypted Vault: regular, Precision, and Ultra-Precision. You can only open them using Code Analyzers of the same type
Once you find a hologram, use your Ecive Scan/Ping button (the same feature you use to find weakspots on Colossi). It will play a different sound effect when you're in range of an Encrypted Vault, and it'll play yet another sound if you're facing the vault's general direction. Keep spamming the Ping button until you find the vault. .
Interact with the Encrypted Vault to start a minigame. Press the indicated button on the screen when the needle overlaps marked area. Do this enough times, and the vault will open. They contain an assortment of crafting materials, including Negative Ion Particles, which are needed to unlock some Descendants.
