One thing that sets Elden Ring apart from the rest of FromSoftware's library is the abundance of unique systems and features. This holds true for both the base game and the recently released Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. One notable feature is the Spirit Ashes.
While players are accustomed to summoning other players for aid, it was a surprise in Elden Ring to find that many of the game’s NPCs can also be used as allies — at least, their spirits can be. The
Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash is one such spirit that players should aim to acquire.
How To Acquire Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash in Elden Ring: SOTE
Acquiring the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash is a simple yet lengthy process. All you need to do is give an NPC a special item. The NPC in question is the Fire Knight Queelign, and the item you need to give is the
Iris of Grace , not the
Iris of Occultation.

The Iris of Grace is a consumable item introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. There are only two in the entire DLC, and finding them can be a challenge if you don’t know where to look. They also cannot be crafted, and the game doesn’t clearly explain how to use them.
Both Irises of Grace are located in Shadow Keep, but this guide will cover only one, as you only need one for the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash. Your first task is to reach the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace. From there, follow the below steps to acquire the Iris of Grace:
- Take the northwest path and activate the lift in the next room to descend.
- Take the first right, defeat the ambushing enemy, and take a left to reach a balcony.
- Jump down below and defeat the enemy once again.
- Look to your east, and you will find the Iris of Grace at the foot of the giant altar.
Now that you have the Iris of Grace in your possession, your next task is to find the Fire Knight Queelign.
The second Iris of Grace, which is also located in Shadow Keep, can be used to acquire the
Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ash.

After defeating the Fire Knight Queelign twice during his quest, you will need to head to his third location, which is the Prayer Room in the Church District of Shadow Keep. Follow these steps to reach the NPC quickly:
- Fast travel to the Church District Entrance Site of Grace, located on the northern side of the Land of Shadows.
- Jump down to the roofs of the houses to your northwest, and reach the other side of the first roof either from the left or right side.
- Jump onto the top of the broken wall of the next structure, being careful not to fall into the water.
- Reach the north side of the broken wall and jump onto the platform to your northeast.
- Jump onto the roof to your west and head south until you reach the end of the roof.
- Carefully jump onto the diagonal path going upwards and follow it to the roof.
- You will notice a hole in the roof; jump down into it and aim for the archway.
- Follow the archway to the south and jump down through the hole again.
- Take the path to your northeast and open the door in front of you using the Prayer Key you must have received after defeating Fire Knight Queelign the second time.
- Talk to the Fire Knight Queelign NPC here and give him the Iris of Grace.
After doing this, you will automatically receive the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash. So, go ahead, equip it, and try it out in battle.

Spirit of a knight granted relief by the Iris of Grace.
Wields a spear-like greatsword that impales foes upon fire, keeping the taint of impurity away from fair mother Marika.
That grace was his salvation, though it was but a fleeting blessing. And having been saved, all that was left to him was to wage war.
The Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash does exactly what it sounds like: it summons the Fire Knight Queelign NPC to aid you in battle, whether against regular enemies or challenging bosses. Having him by your side is always beneficial.
His summon cost is a bit high — 123 FP, to be exact — but it's well worth it. He wields a very long Greatsword, which players might mistake for a spear, and he can also use powerful fire spells to deal heavy damage to enemies. Just call on him during battle and let him do your dirty work.
