- Olympus Colosseum — Rock Titan
Even with the Final Mix version, the first Kingdom Hearts game is notorious for being a very difficult game. Sometimes skill can only take you so far, and that is why you will need to periodically go out and kill a bunch of Heartless to improve your level. The problem is that just leveling normally takes a lot of time, and some leveling methods are not available until much later on in the game. To account for this, here are three highly effective methods for leveling up quickly in Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix for both early on in the game and at the endgame.
Traverse Town — Gizmo Shop & Hotel Run
- Equipping accessories like EXP Ring is recommended, as it provides a 20% Boost to EXP.
The first place that you should spend time leveling up in Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix is in Traverse Town. Specifically, there is a loop that you can hit repeatedly to get a large amount of EXP in a short time. In the Second District, there is the Hotel and the Gizmo Shop right across from it. Start in the Gizmo Shop and kill every wave of Heartless that spawns.
Roughly eight waves of Heartless will spawn in this area alone. With how quickly they spawn, you can rack up a large amount of EXP. It is also a small, closed space, which means that you will not have to worry about tracking down a Heartless that might have fallen off a bridge or something annoying like that. Once all the Heartless are dead, leave the Gizmo Shop and head for the hotel. Kill all the Heartless in the hallway along with the ones in the Red and Green Rooms.
Once this is done, go back out to the hallway and then head to the Gizmo Shop. Since you will have switched to two different areas, everything in the Gizmo Shop will spawn. If you have Encounter Plus equipped, you only need to transition to one new area instead of two to trigger respawns. Early on in the game, this is a highly effective area since there is little downtime between waves of enemies.
As you progress through the story, the Heartless that spawn there will change and become stronger. The Heartless will be worth the most EXP there once players have cleared Hallow Bastion the first time around. Once you are at least Level 60+, there will be other effective methods for leveling quickly available to them.
Olympus Colosseum — Ice Titan
- Make sure Ice Resistance is as high as possible.
- Equip Tech Boost abilities
- 6,000 EXP for beating Ice Titan + 75 EXP per block
This method is not available until near the end of the game, but it is an effective method for leveling if you want to do something a little different from running around in circles in Traverse Town for hours on end. Ice Titan is fought in the special Gold Match at the Olympus Colosseum. In order to unlock this massive opponent, you must first have completed the entirety of the Hades Cup.
Before fighting Ice Titan, make sure to be at least level 60 to 65. Equip accessories that boost Ice Resistance, as this can make the battle significantly easier in terms of how much damage Ice Titan does. The optimal strategy for fighting Ice Titan is to use Guard to send the ice projectiles back at him. Not only do they damage the Ice Titan, but each successful block grants EXP. The amount will vary, but with at least one Tech Boost ability equipped, you will get at least 75 EXP per successful block.
This can add up nicely over the course of the battle, but it can be difficult to block every single projectile while also dodging the attacks that can't be blocked. Do not use Aeroga during this encounter, as the ice projectiles become very large and cannot be deflected. Ice Titan becomes much more aggressive as he gets low on health, so make sure to stay on your toes. The first time you beat Ice Titan, you will get a Keyblade.
Olympus Colosseum — Rock Titan
- Make sure to equip an accessory like EXP Ring or EXP Bracelet
- Grants 4,800 EXP for beating Rock Titan + one EXP for every successful hit.
The best way to level up in Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix takes the most time to unlock, but it is worth it. Rock Titan is the final opponent in the Hades Cup, and he is arguably the easiest boss in the entire game. He barely attacks, and even when he does, they are easily avoidable. Not only that, but every time Rock Titan is struck, you earn one EXP. This can be boosted further by having Aeroga active at all times (if MP allows). Upon defeating the Rock Titan, you gain 4,800 EXP.
Once you've beaten the Rock Titan, you can select Hades Cup and choose to fight him again. If repeated, this method makes it very easy to level up quickly and get Level 100.
