With a few exceptions, most every Kingdom Hearts game has had a secret ending of some kind. This first started with the original Kingdom Hearts which teased players with a cutscene of a black-robed figure that would become relevant later on. Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix explored this cutscene even further with an extended version that could only be unlocked by meeting specific criteria. While it is possible to watch the secret endings without beating the game, here is how you can unlock them as originally intended. The requirements for both endings can be found below.
Some spoilers are below, proceed with caution.
How to Unlock Another Side, Another Story
Another Side, Another Story was the original secret ending for Kingdom Hearts before the release of the Final Mix version of the game. Even in Final Mix, it is still possible to unlock this ending in addition to the Deep Dive version. To do so, you will need to do the following based on the difficulty you played the game on.
Beginner Difficulty
- Cannot be unlocked.
Final Mix
- Rescue all 99 Dalmatian Puppies
- Seal every Keyhole
- Defeat the final boss and beat the game
Final Mix: Proud Mode
- Defeat the final boss and beat the game
After the credits roll, and you see Sora, Donald, and Goofy running off after Pluto, the secret ending will play immediately after.
How to Unlock Another Side, Another Story [Deep Dive]
While nowhere near as brutal as the requirements for the secret ending in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, Another Side, Another Story [Deep Dive] takes more effort to unlock, depending on the difficulty that you choose.
Beginner Difficulty
- Cannot be unlocked, just like with Another Side, Another Story.
Final Mix
- Rescue all 99 Dalmatian Puppies
- Seal every Keyhole
- Complete the Hades Cup
- Complete Jiminy's Journal (Find all Trinities, open every chest, defeat all bosses, etc)
- Defeat the final boss and beat the game
Final Mix: Proud Mode
- Complete the Hades Cup
- Seal every Keyhole
- Defeat the final boss and beat the game
While unlocking both secret endings on Proud Mode is much easier, the trade-off is that beating the game will require much more time and effort. After the credits roll, the secret ending will play soon after.
How to Watch the Secret Endings Without Meeting the Requirements
Aside from pulling them up on YouTube, it is possible to just watch the secret endings in-game without unlocking them first. This is accomplished by loading up Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, going to Theater on the title screen, and then navigating to Secret near the bottom. Both endings can be viewed there.
