LEGO Fortnite has received several quality-of-life updates with the release of the v30.40 update, including the ability to fast travel between Bus Stations and the option to alter world settings in-game. Additionally, the update introduces two additional vehicles and extra toys for players to enjoy.
While Pressure Plates and Trigger Plates are among the recent toys introduced with the fast travel update, Activated Balloons have also made their debut. Although Balloons have been a feature in LEGO Fortnite for a while, Activated Balloons come with a unique function that sets them apart.
How To Craft Activated Balloons

There are two Activated Balloons in LEGO Fortnite that players can craft: an Activated Balloon Small and an Activated Balloon Large.
The recipes for crafting Activated Balloons will be unlocked once players acquire Silk Fabric, and both can be crafted with Silk Fabric, a Torch, and a single Cord — though the larger variant requires twice as much Silk Fabric as the smaller variant. Gathering a Torch is relatively simple, as it can be crafted via a Crafting Bench early on. However, both Silk Fabric and Cord require separate Utility Stations to be acquired:
- Silk Fabric can be crafted via a Loom with 5 Silk Threads.
- Cords can be crafted via a Spinning Wheel with 5 Vines.
Once players have the necessary resources to craft an Activated Balloon, they can place it on any Dynamic Foundation or similar structure via the Build Menu.
How To Use Activated Balloons

Activated Balloons will be deactivated by default and can be freely activated or deactivated via channel control. This means that players can simply activate them with an Activation Switch, a Pressure Plate, or a Trigger Plate.
However, the best way to use Activated Balloons is to pair them with a Driver's Seat. This allows players to control up to four channels at a given time, enabling them to activate and deactivate the balloons and other toys like Thrusters however they see fit.
To change the button used to control the activation of the balloons via a Driver's Seat, players can modify their channel input using a Wrench.
Try pairing Activated Balloons with Thrusters to craft an aircraft capable of moving in any direction, along with boasting the ability to ascend and descend at will.
