Luigi’s Mansion 2: What Does the Gold Bone Do?

Luigi's Mansion 2 has Luigi once again hunting down ghosts on behalf of Professor E. Gadd. Armed with the Poltergust 5000 and a trusty flashlight, you'll explore five different mansions to gather the pieces of the shattered Dark Moon and restore peace to Evershade Valley.

There are a number of different treasures for Luigi to collect throughout Luigi's Mansion 2. One type of treasure that is incredibly valuable is the Gold Bone, which doubles as an extra life in the event that Luigi runs out of health. Of course, you'll want to hang onto them until the end of each mission if you can, since they add 200G to your treasure count at the end of a mission if you don't use them.

How to Find Gold Bones

Gold Bones can be found inside empty drawers and furniture throughout the game, though they will only appear if Luigi has collected 200G of treasure already in the current mission. It seems that they are guaranteed to be found in the first object you check after reaching the 200G requirement. This can be useful to know when taking on some of the game's harder levels due to them functioning as extra lives.

What Do Gold Bones Do?

Luigi's Mansion 2: What Does the Gold Bone Do?

Gold Bones serve two purposes in Luigi's Mansion 2. Firstly, they are worth 200G at the end of a mission if you don't use them, making them valuable for players seeking a higher treasure total. Their second use is attracting the Polterpup to provide assistance if Luigi runs out of health. Should Luigi run out of health while carrying a Gold Bone, the Polterpup will arrive and revive him, taking the Bone in exchange. Grabbing a Gold Bone as soon as possible during a mission can be an excellent safety net in case you run out of health facing off against some of the more dangerous ghosts. It also means getting to see more of the adorable Polterpup, which is always nice.
