With horses and oxen, you might be wondering what exactly the difference is between these two animals, and which of the two you should purchase first. To grow your city as efficiently as possible, here's everything you need to know about oxen and horses.
What's the Difference Between Oxes and Horses in Manor Lords?

As you begin your journey through Manor Lords, you'll notice that you'll get one ox at the very beginning. Horses must be acquired later, but you'll need to have at least an ox to complete construction. When comparing the two, here is what they do:
- Oxen: Can be used to move Timber around to construct buildings. They can also be used to plow fields at Farmhouses once you get the Heavy Plow development. They can be assigned to:
- Sawpit
- Logging Camp
- Farmhouse
- Horses: Can be used to move items for trading with other regions. They will greatly increase the speed at which your traders will travel, so you can get money faster. This is especially useful if you plan on trading a lot or are in desperate need of some resources.
Which Should You Choose First?

While both animals are incredibly important to eventually have in your city, it is important to focus on obtaining more ox at the beginning. This is because the animal has a wide variety of tasks it can perform for you, including helping to complete the construction of new buildings and allowing you to plow fields quickly to ensure you are producing more food for your people.
Horses are also incredibly useful but will be more limited in completing tasks. Oxen and horses cannot change tasks, meaning you can't get your horse to complete a task that oxen do. Horses will mostly just help you with trading.
They'll be especially useful when you're in a pinch and need some trading for food or materials. Overall, oxen will be cheaper, only costing 20 Regional Wealth, whereas horses will cost 30 Regional Wealth. Oxen are the better choice as you begin your journey through the first year, and having more of them on your farm will greatly improve your development.
