An avid Minecraft player makes a stunning Wild West town in the game that's heavily inspired by a title from a certain popular gaming franchise. With how boundless the creativity of the Minecraft community truly is, as builds like these continue to show, it's no wonder why Mojang's hit sandbox game remains relevant more than a decade after its release.
For years, gamers have been making inventive creations in Minecraft directly based off of or loosely inspired by other pop culture franchises. Most recently, for instance, one talented fan created an incredible replica of a Super Mario Kart course in Minecraft. Meanwhile, another dedicated Minecraft player made in-game pixel art renditions of a handful of Pals from Palworld. Others, on the other hand, have even put in the effort to recreate iconic video game locations in Minecraft from the ground up. For example, the massive Dimitrescu Castle from Resident Evil Village and the towering Erdtree from Elden Ring were both painstakingly remade in this blocky sandbox game. One recent gaming-inspired build that a Minecraft fan just shared online, however, is especially impressive.
A Reddit user named Walzon_ posted an image of a small Wild West town they'd been working on for a few weeks on the r/Minecraft subreddit. The town in question has "taken a lot of inspiration from" Rockstar Games' immersive historical open-world game Red Dead Redemption 2. According to a reply Walzon_ made to a comment on the post, this creation of theirs was particularly based off of a settlement in the Cholla Springs region of RDR2, known as Armadillo. They elaborate on this, pointing out that "the saloon on the left" side of the Minecraft town, for example, was directly taken from this specific location in Red Dead Redemption 2.
As to how they managed to make such an impressive creation, Walzon_ claims that they somehow found a couple of "techniques to make the buildings look nice in Minecraft," though they didn't mention what exactly those techniques were. Those who would like to see this Wild West town in full will unfortunately have to wait a little while longer, however, as it is still currently incomplete. In fact, the creator behind this impressive Minecraft creation mentions in another comment that the screenshot they provided shows "the only angle where the town doesn't look unfinished." Perhaps "in a month or so," the Redditor states, they'll finally be ready to "show the whole thing."
Franchises Like Minecraft and Red Dead Redemption Will Likely Remain Popular Over The Years
This is, unsurprisingly, not the only instance in which Minecraft fans have made creations based off of Red Dead Redemption. While some inventive gamers have created things as simple as John Marston skins for Minecraft, others have crafted entire Western-styled worlds within Mojang's ever-popular sandbox game that were directly inspired by Rockstar's beloved franchise. As unrelated as they may be, if there are two video game series out there that will likely remain in the conversation for decades to come thanks to their passionate fanbases, it's Red Dead Redemption and Minecraft, as these particular fan-made creations indicate.
