A Minecraft player online has lost their Hardcore world in a heartbreaking way, after falling victim to some hilariously unfortunate circumstances. Minecraft's Hardcore mode isn't for the faint-hearted, as this particular player has discovered.
Minecraft's Hardcore mode is arguably the biggest challenge the game has to offer. In this mode, players do not respawn, meaning one death and all of their progress is gone. There is no way to re-open their world afterward, so one mistake can lead to players losing a massive amount of time sunk into the game. A little while back, one Minecraft player showed off their 12,000-day Hardcore world, showing how long some gamers have been able to keep these worlds going for. The thought of losing 12,000 in-game days of progress is heartbreaking, which is why Hardcore is considered so punishing.
Redditor Direct_Way_8695 shared the bizarre clip, in which the player loses their Minecraft Hardcore mode world in heartbreaking circumstances. On first viewing, it seems the player dies out of nowhere, despite the game telling them they were killed by an Iron Golem in Minecraft. However, a second viewing reveals the truth — the Iron Golem drops down to the player at the exact moment they left-click to hit a block. While the Iron Golem isn't visible, its hitbox is technically in view of the player, causing them to accidentally attack it. The Golem then kills the player in a single hit, ending the Hardcore mode run in a truly weird way.
Minecraft Iron Golem Weird Hardcore Death
Many in the thread were completely shocked that the Iron Golem could one-shot the player through armor, even in Minecraft's Hardcore mode. Others took the time to point out that these types of situations are why they choose to avoid Hardcore mode. For many, losing potentially weeks or months of playtime to such a strange situation would prove too frustrating, and understandably so.
Despite recently celebrating its 15th anniversary, Minecraft remains as popular as ever. The core gameplay has a timelessness that lends itself to a long and healthy lifespan, and Mojang's continued support for the game has allowed it to thrive way beyond its initial launch. The recent Minecraft Tricky Trials update was the biggest change in a long time, with new trial chambers changing the way exploration works in the game. While a sequel is unlikely, there's no doubt that the original Minecraft is here to stay for a very long time yet.
