Clay is a useful resource for building projects and item crafting in No Rest for the Wicked. Here’s where to find it.
The race for resources in No Rest for the Wicked starts right from the beginning of the game and never stops. Even seemingly innocuous resources like Clay, Copper, and Wood are of incredible importance to the progression of the game, and players will rarely have enough of them to go around.
Clay, in particular, is a useful resource for building projects, recipes, furniture, and challenges. The game doesn’t say where Clay spawns and how to get to it, leaving it to the players to figure things out.
How to Get Clay in No Rest for the Wicked
Close
There are three main ways to obtain Clay in No Rest for the Wicked.
Shovel Dig Spots
Clay can be found by digging dirt mounds scattered across the map using a Shovel. To dig, players will either need to get lucky and find a Copper Shovel inside a chest as random loot or buy it from Fillmore once he returns to Sacrament after Warrick the Torn is defeated.
Not all dig spots contain Clay, but on average, one out of three do, making it the most reliable way to farm out this material. Given enough time, dig spots (and other resource points) respawn, encouraging players to revisit previously cleared areas to refill their stocks.
Clay is a fairly common item to find at dig spots at lower levels, but its drop rate gets progressively lower the higher the player level gets as more items get added to the loot pool. It’s unclear whether this is a bug or an intended feature, but if players find themselves in this situation, the only recourse is to create new realms, gather all the Clay they can find, and transfer it to the main realm.
Hovering over a realm while in the realm selector will reveal ‘backups’ for that realm. These are essentially game states you can revert the realm to, meaning you don’t have to wait for the resources to replenish. You can force them to do so by selecting the earliest backup.
Buy from Merchants
Grinnich in the main market square sells Clay for 14 Coppers when players first enter Sacrament. However, as players progress through the game and increase their levels and gold, the cost of items goes up accordingly.
Random Loot from Chests
Players can sometimes find Clay inside the chests they loot during their runs. Like dig spots, these chests also respawn given enough time, refilling themselves with resources and useful items. However, finding Clay inside a chest is more of a happy accident rather than something to rely on.
