The main weapons players will be using in Once Human are guns. There are multiple types of guns that can be crafted across different tiers and rarities, giving clear upgrade paths for those wanting to get stronger to take on the massive stardust-infused monsters found throughout the game.
Unlike how crossbow arrows can be picked up, bullets are one-time use, and players will need lots. Ammo can be crafted fairly early into the game, and with the right materials, players can craft hundreds of bullets quickly. Ammo also has a very low weight, letting players greatly stock up before leaving their territory.

Ammo is crafted at the Supplies Workbench, which can be built after getting the Essential Tools upgrade in the Crafting Memetic upgrade tree. You'll also need to purchase the Ammunition I upgrade the be able to craft gunpowder and copper ammo. Copper ammo is the basic version of ammo the players will be able to craft lots of right away, with the recipe being the same for all bullet types:
- 1 Gunpowder
- 3 Copper Ingots
Copper ore is a common material that is mined from copper rocks, which look like regular rocks but with orange pieces scattered around the surface. You'll also need the Smithing Essentials upgrade in the Infrastructure tree to get a furnace to smelt charcoal and turn copper ore into copper ingots. Playing with friends is an easy way to maximize mining and finding copper rocks as quickly as possible. Gunpowder is a bit more complex to make and can be done at the Supplies Workbench.

Gunpowder is crafted using:
- 6 Sulfur
- 3 Charcoal
- 3 Acid
Charcoal can be smelted in the furnace by burning logs. Sulfur is mined from sulfur rocks, which are less tall and wider than copper rocks, with yellow coloring on most of the top of the rock. Acid is a bit more difficult to obtain and will require you to fight enemies. Acid is looted from just about all dead enemies, with large groups always being found in abandoned structures.
Head to a nearby structure and use a crossbow to quietly take down enemies one by one. Arrows from a crossbow can be picked up after being shot, giving players an easy source of acid without needing to use a gun you crafted. Basic enemies in abandoned structures have a fast respawn rate, letting players farm single locations with weak enemies should they just want an easy source of acid.
