Once Human: How To Move Territory

Once Human is an open-world survival crafting game, and like most other games in the genre, this one comes with base building features. Players can make fancy homes, rundown outposts, or anything else in between, granted they have the necessary resources to do so.

Thankfully, if you spent a significant amount of time making your first base, you'll be glad to know that you can move your base relatively painlessly. This is an excellent quality-of-life feature to have, especially since you'll need a ton of resources to craft things like guns in Once Human. If you ever find yourself in need of a quick move, here's how you can do it.

How To Move Your Base In Once Human

Moving your base is pretty simple. All you need to do is enter Build Mode (press B by default on PC), find a new spot, then place your base (Z by default on PC). If you're worried about controls, you can see which button does what by checking the bottom-left corner of your screen. If you end up finding a resource-rich area with plenty of food and water in Once Human, you'll want to claim that area as soon as you can.

The game is pretty generous when it comes to moving your base. It costs nothing to move your territory (in the early game, at least), and you can place your base almost anywhere except near strongholds, roads, and other people's homes. When placing your base, you can adjust its vertical height and horizontal rotation, allowing for a bit of flexibility when it comes to rough terrain. Also, you can enter Flight Mode to get a bird's eye view of your new territory.

Before you relocate your territory, a warning will pop up saying that any furniture and facilities you've placed will get disassembled and transferred to your Territory Terminal Vault. This doesn't appear to be an issue early on when player bases are generally small, but once you start making more complex bases, you may need to start worrying about this more. Your stuff won't get destroyed or put to waste, but if you're wondering why your facilities and furniture have disappeared, this is why.

A 10-minute cooldown will start once you finish moving your base. At higher levels, this can reach up to 24 hours, so you'll need to be a bit more pragmatic when it comes to choosing base locations later in the game. If you hop worlds in Once Human, there's a slim chance that another base is already occupying your chosen area. In this case, you'll have no choice but to move.
