Overwatch 2 Director Aaron Keller is reportedly planning to address the heavy volume of fan requests for the game to feature a 6v6 game mode, similar to the original Overwatch. Between its standard play and variety of arcade-style game modes, the hero shooter features plenty of different ways for players to experience its fast-paced action. Overwatch 2 regularly features rotating game modes like Deathmatch, Elimination, and Capture the Flag among plenty of other options. However, one popular style of gameplay has been among the most fervent requests from fans.
One of the biggest changes made to Overwatch 2 in the transition from the original game came with a major shift in the game's standard play. Whereas the first Overwatch featured 6v6 team-based combat as the shooter's main game mode, Overwatch 2 would remove a member from each team for 5v5 matches. Overwatch 2 has seen plenty of requests from fans to bring back the traditional 6v6 gameplay, with some fans even creating custom game modes to re-live the Overwatch 1 style. Now, Overwatch 2's game director is preparing to give fans an update on their requests.
Overwatch 2 Director Aaron Keller recently teased an update to come from Blizzard about the deluge of requests for a 6v6 mode in Overwatch 2. Keller suggested that the development team is looking to share more about its own views on a potential 6v6 mode for Overwatch 2. Keller confirmed that the game mode will be touched upon during Overwatch 2's next Director's Take or Dev Update, not giving any specifics about its plans for the requests. The post did not reveal when the next Director's Take or Dev Update would be shared.

Overwatch 2 has recently showcased a plethora of new gameplay changes coming in the hero shooter's near future. A recent interview with Overwatch lead gameplay designer Alec Dawson teased several changes coming for older Heroes, hinting at a rework for Hanzo alongside changes to Reinhardt and Winston. Overwatch's Season 12 will also welcome the game's newest Hero, with "Space Ranger" said to be a new support character. Overwatch 2's Season 12 is currently expected to launch in late August.
While Overwatch 2 has hinted at plenty of future content, the developer has a major update on the way soon. July 9 will see the launch of the highly-anticipated Transformers crossover, adding plenty of new skins based on the beloved giant robot franchise. The newest iteration of Overwatch's "Summer Games" event will also debut during the July update, bringing back multiple summer-themed skins and alternate game modes. Overwatch 2 looks to be bringing plenty of new content throughout the coming months, between major crossovers and character changes.
