Once you become a more advanced fisherman in Palia, you will be able to unlock new bait, including Worms and even Glow Worms. Having these baits available to you will make it much easier to find rare and valuable fish, rather than your typical common Yellow Perch or the Cutthroat Trout.

One of these rare fish is the Mutated Angler, an even more terrifying version of the Angler fish with a glowing green jaw and two sets of eyes. Despite its unsettling appearance, it is a great fish to catch due to its high value and usefulness for completing Palia's Spooky Bundle.

If you are on the lookout for a Mutated Angler in Palia but are unsure where to locate it, there are only a few spots where it can be found: within caves. There aren't a ton of caves in the game, but you can find a couple on both the Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay maps. Here's where they can be found:

  • Kilima Valley
    • The Underground
    • Water Temple
  • Bahari Bay
    • Pavel Mines

The easiest spots for those who are not very far into the main quests of the game include The Underground in Kilima Valley and the Pavel Mines in Bahari Bay. You can easily access The Underground from the southern region of Kilima Valley near Remembrance Beach, or through the General Store. The Pavel Mines are open to anyone at any level and can be found in the second map image above.

Once you've chosen your preferred location to get the Mutated Angler, you will need to properly prepare yourself, since you will need to meet a few requirements to reel the rare fish in. This includes:

  • You can use any fishing rod to catch the Mutated Angler, but it will be easier with a higher-level option.
  • You must use Worm bait to catch the Mutated Angler, otherwise you will get common fish.
  • The Mutated Angler will appear at any time during the day or night.

If you don't have any Worms, you can either purchase some from the General Store for 50 Gold for 5 Worms, or you can make some of your own through a Worm Farm. The Worm Farm recipe can be purchased from the Fishing Guild for 500 Coins once you are at fishing Level 4. Although the Mutated Angler is very rare and doesn't appear often, we were able to catch one after only a few casts in both the Pavel Mines and The Underground. Once you have one, you can sell it for 360 Gold at base value, or 540 Gold for star quality, or you can use it to complete the Spooky Bundle.
