Palworld may feel peaceful at first glance, but there are dangers at every corner, making life chaotic wherever players go. One such place is the Oil Rig, an area on the map that can only be accessed by exploring and discovering the station amidst the fog. Unlike wild-life areas, Palworld's Oil Rig is chock-full of terrifying threats, from Syndicate Gunners and Grenadiers to the pals they throw out to help take the player down. There's no time to take a breather, and proper preparation will determine the player's ability to survive this challenge.
Palworld: Oil Rig Location
Close
The first order of business for locating the Oil Rig is to have the Marsh Island fast travel waypoint unlocked. From this spot, players should be able to see the Oil Rig in the distance. Players can unlock this fast travel waypoint by heading over to the area where the Grintale Alpha Boss is. This specific fast-travel waypoint can be found past the small forest of trees and near the beach-like area.
Swimming over to the Oil Rig is an option, but players may risk running out of stamina before reaching the location and drowning. Instead, players should consider a swimming mount, such as
Azurobe or
Jormuntide , to reach the Oil Rig. A flying mount is not recommended, as the Oil Rig has homing devices that will target pals in the sky and shoot them down with high-powered laser beams. These attacks will instantly KO the player and their pal.
Preparing For The Oil Rig
Best Weapons and Armor To Bring
As one can expect, the Oil Rig is littered with Syndicate enemies, all of whom are at max level with the best weapons available. This will challenge players who are not fully prepared with the best armor available in Palworld at the time of this writing. Considering the damage the enemies can inflict, players should equip armor such as the Plasteel Armor, Plasteel Helm, Ultra Shield, Life Pendant, and Defense Pendant.
If players have the two extra accessory slots unlocked, a Ring Of Freight can assist with carrying more items back home. As for weapons, the highest quality Grenade Launcher will assist with taking down large waves of enemies before they can reach the player and attack. An Assault Rifle and Flamethrower will be the best options at close range, as they offer players the most damage per second and can wipe out anything that gets too close.
Best Pals To Have On The Team
At times, players may feel overwhelmed by the sheer madness. If a dozen Syndicate enemies and a
Jormuntide Ignis aren't enough to scare players, turret gunners at every corner will fire away at a moment's notice. Having a team of pals who can aid the player will make a huge difference, but being selective is paramount. A flying mount, like
Nitewing or
Jetragon , can be a perfect exit strategy when the going gets too tough.
Another pal that is a must is Dogen, whose partner skill acts as a teleportation system that brings the player back to the closest base. This is perfect for situations when the player has run out of ammo and is approaching death or if the Oil Rig has been cleared and the loot has been recovered. The three remaining spots should go towards pals with high defense and HP to survive the assault awaiting ahead.
Main Objectives While On The Oil Rig
Upon reaching the Oil Rig, players will be met with a sounding alarm that will alert the Syndicates. This means players can expect a warm welcome from various grunts, grenadiers, and gunners, along with their pals. Taking out anything that moves will be the first objective, as minimizing the number of threats is ideal for the next step — the turret gunners. These annoying pests will fire powerful shots when the player is within distance.
Players can disarm these turret gunners by approaching and disarming the touch panel. Most locations will have three or four of these weapons activated, so taking them down will go a long way to a player's survival. After this is done, players can begin to disarm those horrible lasers that are used to target flying mounts in or around the Oil Rig. Once all devices are taken down, only the Syndicates and their pals are in the way of the player and their rewards.
Target Oil Rig Large Treasure Chests
The best part of the Oil Rig, besides the potential to capture extremely powerful pals from the Syndicate organization, is the large treasure chests available. These massive crates can be found in a few locations in the Oil Rig and contain lucrative rewards. Of course, it won't be easy to get to them, as Syndicates and pals will heavily protect them. Players will have to mow over them before attempting to open the large treasure chest.
Large treasure chests can contain multiple items of high value, such as Crude Oil, Ancient Civilization Cores, Training Manuals, Rare Schematics, Lotus Flowers, and more. Targeting these crates should be the primary goal for players looking to stock up on great items, but reaching them will require plenty of time, patience, and some good fortune along the way.
Once players have explored the entire area, taken down the entire Syndicate base, and captured the loot available, it's time to head back home. The fortunate news in this situation is that players won't have to worry about those laser beams, as they will be permanently destroyed. This means that players will only have to worry about Syndicate members and their pals, as well as the turret gunners, should they choose to return to the Oil Rig for another run at a large treasure chest.
