Path of Exile 2 is always logged into the server whenever you are playing, and you’ll always come across other characters when exploring the various Hub towns of each act. The game also comes with a chat feature that helps players connect with one another, be them from the same guild or even random players.

The chat feature can be filtered in a few different ways depending on who you want to see messaging you, though it will appear over the game as you’re playing if it’s on. While there are messages you may not want to miss, you may want to hide the chat to be able to focus on the monsters right in front of you. Here’s how to hide and filter the chat in Path of Exile 2.

No matter what filters you have activated on the chat, you’ll be able to hide the entire thing so it only appears when you open it up in the character menu. To fully hide the chat in both the world and in the character menu, follow these steps:
✕ Remove Ads
- Open the character menu and select the toggle chat option in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Select the option to start a chat found along the bottom of the chat menu.
- Along the middle bottom of the screen will be the, «Toggle Chat Groups» option.
- Select every chat feature that is orange until the bar around the title is grayed out.
This will effectively hide the chat while in any menu, as every channel has been filtered to be hidden. While hidden, all messages sent to you will build up and can be viewed later so that you don’t miss anything, which can be helpful when looking for a message with a linked item.
