Build-a-Bear’s popular line of Pokemon plushes is now adding Scarlet and Violet’s Fire-type starter Fuecoco. The first Pokemon Build-a-Bear doll was introduced back in 2015, and was none other than the franchise’s ever-endearing mascot, Pikachu. Since then, several of Nintendo’s collectible creatures have been sold in plush form, much to the delight of collectors young and old.
2024, in particular, has been an interesting time for Pokemon Build-a-Bear fans. At the very start of the year, a massive Build-a-Bear version of the iconic Charizard was introduced as an online exclusive, followed by a smaller toy of the popular Generation 4 Normal-type Bidoof almost a month later. Munchlax, the baby form of Snorlax that was also introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, was also made available in an online bundle on the Build-a-Bear website in June, nearly five years after its older form was released as an adorable plush doll.
Now Fuecoco, Scarlet and Violet’s popular Fire-type starter, is joining the Pokemon Build-a-Bear lineup in an online-exclusive set on the Build-a-Bear website. This set costs $69 and includes the plush Fuecoco with five playable sounds, a fire-themed orange-and-black shirt, and a purple Pokeball-patterned sleeper outfit.
Fuecoco Joins The Pokemon Build-a-Bear Lineup With Adorable Bundle
As mentioned before, Fuecoco was introduced in 2022’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as one of the three starter options players can choose from at the beginning of the game, alongside the Grass-type Sprigatito and Water-type Quaxly. The cute, carefree reptilian Fire Croc Pokemon quickly became popular with fans, inspiring plenty of creative artwork that envisions it as a futuristic robot or a surprisingly scary realistic version of Fuecoco among other examples. Just like many other franchise starters, Fuecoco was soon introduced into the anime as the partner of Pokemon Horizons protagonist Roy, increasing its fame and popularity even further.
Fuecoco’s fellow Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter Sprigatito was introduced to the Pokemon Build-a-Bear lineup last July, and it might only be a matter of time before a Quaxly plush is announced. In the meantime, Build-a-Bear collectors can now add Fuecoco to their Pokemon teams, complete with some cute outfits and sound effects inspired by the Pokemon games it comes from. Build-a-Bear’s Pokemon line has been a hit so far, and with 1025 different breeds to choose from as of this writing, it doesn’t seem like the company is going to run out of licensed plushes to release anytime soon.
