Pokemon Fan Designs Grass-Type Version of Diglett

Highlights

  • The evolution of Diglett includes Dugtrio and Alolan variants.
  • A creative Pokemon fan known as GL0riouz designs a carrot-themed Grass-type Diglett named Carrett.
  • Other alternate forms of Diglett and Dugtrio, like Paradox versions or morbid tombstone variations, have been imagined by creative fans.

An imaginative Pokemon player has just designed a Grass-type Diglett variant that looks more like a carrot than a mole. Diglett was one of the first 151 Pokemon introduced in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games, and it quickly set itself apart from the rest with its unique design. Most of the time, only Diglett’s head is visible, with the rest of its body being buried underground — though a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet glitch gives a small clue about what it may look like. This element of mystery makes Diglett especially popular with Pokemon fans, despite it not being particularly useful as a battle companion.

Diglett also has its fair share of interesting evolutions and variants. At level 26, Diglett will evolve into Dugtrio, which is essentially three Diglett joined together. Both Diglett and Dugtrio have Alolan variants that give them a Steel element alongside their usual Ground abilities. Furthermore, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced Wiglett and Wugtrio, a pair of Water-type Pokemon that, while being entirely separate from the Diglett/Dugtrio lineage, share many traits in terms of design and behavior.

This isn’t getting into the custom Diglett variants created by Pokemon fans like Reddit user GL0riouz, who recently shared a creative Grass-type design for both Diglett and Dugtrio on r/pokemon. While the traditional Diglett is designed after a real-life mole, GL0riouz’s take (fittingly named “Carrett”) instead resembles a carrot with Diglett’s signature beady eyes and large, oval-shaped nose. Just like the real Dugtrio, the evolved “Carotrio” resembles three Carrett bunched together, leaving some Reddit users wishing for a Pokemon game where all the creatures are based on food.

Carrot-Themed Diglett Grass Variant Looks Good Enough to Eat

Plenty of other Pokemon fans have devised impressive alternate forms for both Diglett and Dugtrio, including Paradox versions that show what the Mole Pokemon’s ancient ancestors and futuristic decedents might look like. Others have created darker versions of Diglett that instead resemble a tombstone, much to the morbid delight of their fellow Pokemon fans.

GL0riouz’s Grass-type Diglett variant is a tad more wholesome, instead reimaging the Gen 1 fan favorite as a nutritious carrot that still retains the defining feature of both Diglett and its evolved form: namely that most of its body remains mysteriously buried underground at all times. Carrett and Carotrio are certainly charming, though they may wish to steer clear of any rabbit-themed Pokemon if they don’t want to become a sudden snack.
