Pokemon Sleep Warns Against Cheating, Confuses Players

Highlights

  • Pokemon Sleep warns against cheating by using unauthorized tools, risking suspension for players who violate its Terms of Use.
  • The game focuses on sleep tracking and research, offering bonuses for good sleep days and hosting limited-time events.
  • Despite confusion over how one can cheat in a sleep tracking app, fans remain undeterred by the non-competitive nature of Pokemon Sleep.

Pokemon Sleep released a notice warning against cheating, but it left many players confused. Pokemon Sleep often sends out announcements on its website and the in-game mailbox regarding general updates and bug fixes, but this is the first time it relayed a cheating warning.

Pokemon Sleep mainly functions as a sleep tracker when players sleep at night, but during the day, they can research Pokemon's sleep styles and gather ingredients and berries to feed Snorlax. Compared to other Pokemon games, Pokemon Sleep isn't competitive and helps players to keep track of their sleeping habits, so it doesn't have any form of toxicity.

Recently, Pokemon Sleep sent out a notice titled "Response to Inappropriate Conduct," which initially caused some confusion among fans. Upon reading, the announcement was a warning about "using unauthorized tools or programs" to hike up the number of sleep research sessions. Pokemon Sleep emphasized that it will suspend players who go against its Terms of Use if it detects suspicious activity in past and future gameplay. Developers will also continue to observe players' app use to respond to further violations.

Pokemon Sleep Notice Confuses Fans

Despite the explanation about what "inappropriate conduct" entails, many Pokemon Sleep fans were still confused about how people could cheat on a sleep tracking app. The sleep tracking game also didn't specify what type of suspicious activities it detected recently, which raised more questions and speculations. Meanwhile, there are some who think that players might be using third party apps to change their time zones, or going beyond Pokemon Sleep's twice a day bedtime rule by spamming naps to farm Pokemon.

Pokemon Sleep recently hosted a Raikou event that many players participated in to catch and level up the Legendary Pokemon. This April, Pokemon Sleep is hosting a Flower Festival event featuring Comfey encounters, along with Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon.

Some Pokemon Sleep fans believe that these limited-time events and the chance to catch rare Pokemon could motivate people to cheat in the sleep-tracking game. But overall, they seem unfazed by the "inappropriate conduct" notice, and it must be because of the non-competitive nature of the game. Likewise, the notice is a general reminder for players to not encourage others to violate Pokemon Sleep's Terms of Use to prevent any problems with the app's operations.
