Insomniac Games has revealed that the Bouncer weapon can be claimed for free in 2016’s Ratchet and Clank via a new DLC drop. This classic weapon giveaway comes on the eighth anniversary of the release of Ratchet and Clank and gives fans a new reason to dive back into the game’s chaotic action.
Released for the PS4 in 2016, Ratchet and Clank served as a reboot of the series and launched alongside a movie of the same name. While the Ratchet and Clank film received a poor reception, the game was praised by many fans, becoming fondly remembered in the years since. The game even received a PS5 update to add 60fps. Among the features that fans enjoyed was the range of wild and whacky weapons that Ratchet could employ on the battlefield. While most of these were available to everyone at launch, the Bouncer was exclusive DLC. Fortunately, that has finally changed for those wanting to try the weapon.
In an announcement from Insomniac Games, the developer revealed the Bouncer had been made available for players to claim for free in 2016’s Ratchet and Clank. This weapon giveaway came as part of a celebration of the eighth anniversary of the game. To get the weapon for free, players must go to the PlayStation Store and download the Ratchet & Clank Bouncer Weapon Add on. It is worth noting that this free DLC works on both PS4 and PS5.
The Bouncer Is Available to Download for Free in Ratchet and Clank
While Ratchet and Clank featured numerous chaotic weapons to use throughout the adventure, the Bouncer was previously only available as a pre-order bonus and as DLC that could be purchased separately. As a result, many who picked the game up later never checked out the classic weapon, which featured in several titles through the years, including Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on the PS5. As the name suggests, this weapon launches a destructive ball that bounces before separating into smaller explosives.
This free weapon download for the 2016 game comes as fans wait for news about the next potential installment in the Ratchet and Clank series. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart already came out nearly three years ago, and fans are hoping that the wait for the next installment in the series will take less than the one they had for that previous game. However, the Insomniac leaks from 2023 indicated that the next game in the series is planned for 2029. That being said, things could change, making the information in these leaks not concrete.
