If you’re having trouble with any of the Great Spirit Bosses in Tales of Kenzera: Zau, this guide has you covered!
Tales of Kenzera: Zau features multiple bosses located through the different main regions of the game. These bosses are Great Spirits, who Zau must help pass on to fulfill his deal with Kalunga to meet his father again. Most of these bosses are not that hard, but players playing on harder difficulties might face problems avoiding a few attacks that might result in death and having to retry. Completing all available Reflection Points and Spirit Rituals before the boss fights can be useful as they increase maximum health, give additional trinket slots, and much more.
In two cases, the player will also have to complete platforming sections in order to run away or reach the boss of the region. The guide below includes details on all the bosses and how to deal with their attacks to come out on top.
How To Beat Impundulu
The first boss is the Spirit of the Sky itself, Impundulu. She can be located at the top of Ikakaramba after making your way with Liyana, her daughter. As Liyana is too young, Impundulu does not want to pass on and give the responsibilities to her daughter. This triggers the boss fight, where you have to use all the skills you have learned so far for the actual test. She starts off the fight by slamming her claw multiple times into the ground. These can be easily dodged sideways, and you can dash back to get a couple of hits.
After the last of these claw attacks, she takes quite some time before pulling her hand back, giving you enough time to use full combos on her.
The next attack is quite similar to the first one, but now she slams her beak into the ground. This attack, on the other hand, is harder to dodge because understanding the timing can be tricky. After taking out 1/4th of her health bar, she will become invincible and shortly teleport to the back of the screen. Here, she will cast lightning strikes that can deal quite a lot of damage. There is a small time delay before the lightning appears and then strikes, giving you time to dodge out of the way.

After another invincible phase, she will now come to either side of the arena and shoot lightning orbs from her mouth, which are quite quick, so you might have to use double jump and dash in different scenarios. The final attack she has in her arsenal is the lightning beam that she shoots from her mouth. This beam goes from one side of the arena to the next, so dashing through it is the only way to avoid taking damage. When her HP is low, her claw slam attacks will generate lightning shockwaves that must be jumped to avoid.
How To Beat Kikiyaon
The second boss fight takes place in The Wildwood after bringing all the items Sabulana requests. To everyone's surprise, you find out that Kikiyaon has taken the form of Sabula to trick Zau. Kikiyaon is the Spirit of Nature, and this fight starts inside Zau's mind, which she is trying to take over. The first section has you running away from a fog that can take out your entire health bar if you slow down. After following the main path, you will acquire the Tawa's Heart ability, which allows you to disassemble or assemble Constructs. With the newly founded ability, you can make your way to the boss's arena.

This fight is pretty straightforward, but there are a few things that you should be aware of. Her heart will exposed to you, but regular strikes or shooting at it will not work. You will have to switch over to the Sun Mask and use your Tawa's Heart ability to open up the blockage, allowing you to strike dealing damage. After taking out a bar of health, the heart will contract and respawn somewhere else in the arena.
How To Beat GaGorib
The last Great Spirit is Gagorib, who is located in the Enduring Rite. GaGorib is the son of Bomani, who has mutated into an element of fire because he does not accept the death of his father. Inside the heart of the Volcano, you will come to face him, and after your conversation with him, the fight will commence. His main attack is the claw combo, which includes a few claw strikes into a powerful slam. He has an attack where he jumps up into the sky and then slams his arm into the ground, causing a fire shockwave that goes for quite some distance. Jumping over this can easily prevent you from taking damage.

After losing almost half of his health bar, GaGorib will jump high up in the sky and a circle will start forming around you. This indicates the area where the boss will land. As soon as the circle becomes red, be ready to dash away. There is a fire shockwave after the boss lands, so make sure you jump.
